CSI Miami 2/9/04 [POSSIBLE SPOILERS]

First Post
It seems like no one has started a CSI thread on these boards, perhaps because it isn't Fantasy/Sci Fi.

I would make the argument that althought strictly it is a drama show, its really freaking good, and has a lot of things that can be lifted into DnD.

I mean, the characters are like an adventuring party- each with a specialty. And the show involves evil (in the form of criminals), so its basically a show about heroes fighting the good fight, and there are a few recurring villains, and people die in interesting ways (which can be recreated in DND), so... umm... yah.

But thats not the point. The point is that this is a discussion thread for tonight's CSI Miami episode, which I'm looking forward to...

EDIT: Mods feel free to shut this thread down if you feel it isn't appropriate (and although it may not be appropriate, umm... CSI rocks hard)

What about the paranoid, sycophantic tech who transferred in from another state (in the Las Vegas CSI)? Hutchins or something like that? He's some kind of glue. Or epoxy or resin or something.

Reminds me, I've got to set up my VCR for tonight...

I'd actually thought that the dog would turn out to not belong to the suspect. I'd figured it was a third person who'd shot the man, and the dog belonged to him.

The teaser before the credits was pretty wild.

The 'fake vampire' teaser got us all to thinking about how cool it would be to have a d20 CoC or Dark Matter campaign revolve around a CSI-type team. Basically a cross-over between CSI and Special Unit 2, where the PC's would be medical, scientific and investigative personnel who run interference for the World of the Super Nature, making sure that the public doesn't find out about what really goes on at night.

The 'fake vampire' teaser

We caught that episode last week. I think Seri enjoyed it more than I did - I have a big distaste for Vampires, and angsty teenagers trying to BE vampires. But then I used to play/run vampire LARPs, so maybe it's justified ;)

The "A" plot, about an art theft, was pretty good though mediocor - I'd have rated it a 6 or 7.

I like CSI's original more than Miami as well, but Miami has grown on me since it started. I do not like the coroner, the lady who's always asking female corpses, "Who did this to you baby?"

What I like is the original seems to have a gamer or sci-fi fan on the writing staff. They made reference to Farscape last season, and the vampire thing had a few links to the whole Vampire the Masquerade, though I'm sure you could argue they were coincidental.
