Curious about your present Party Composition

13th level Paladin Zapf, the mighty.
13th level Wizard Tyro, the Advisor.
13th level Sorc. Seebou the conspirator.
11th level Fighter Berell

A four person party that is very well rounded in and out of combat.

I am the DM:

- 2nd LV Ranger (Monte Cook version), human male
- 1st LV Sorceress, avariel female
- 2nd LV Fighter, human male (NPC)
- and possibly one more PC joining soon

They have been getting their asses kicked, needless to say. ;)

The bi-weekly game I play in;

Human Cleric 1 (Me - warrior type by desire, healer by necessity)
Human Fighter 1 (Archer type)
Dwarf Fighter 1 (tank 1)
Dwarf Wizard 1 (new player)
Elf Rogue 1
Half-Orc Barbarian 1 (tank 2)

Low magic campaign where it's dangerous to be a Wizard.

The one I DM (RTToEE)

Tanith - Half Elf Sorcerer2/Fighter4 NPC - Going for Arcane Archer
Rogue - Human Rogue5 (Don't ask about the name)
Dyrill - Human Druid5
Galen - Elven Barbarian5

No Wizards or Clerics

Let's just say they keep the local church in the money buying scrolls and potions.

Party compositions...

the party from from a campaign I ran a while had the following make-up

Human male Fighter (light armour & two weapons)
Human male Fighter/Cavalier
Human male Ranger
Elven male Cleric/Wizard
Elven male Rogue
Elven male Fighter/Wizard/Bladesinger

The last party I played in had (when we died)...

Half-elven male Fighter/Wizard Bladesinger
Half-elven male Cleric
Human female Sorcerer
Halfling male Rogue

the party from the campaign I'm currently running is a little more exotic...

Memnok Walshingham - Human male Fighter9/Diviner2
Trinnen val Kemeer - Humal female Fighter4/Rogue3/Lasher4 (extremely potent combination)
Xanaver Dawnbringer - Aasimar male Sorcerer 11
Alton Thorngage - Halfling male Rogue9/Underhanded Archer2 (homebrew PrC)...

and the party in which I finally get to be a PC again (first session tomorrow night... yay!!)

Elf female Ranger 6
Human male Fighter 6
Gnome male Rogue 6
Gnome male Sorcerer 6
Human female Cleric (Fharlanghn) 6...

all surprisingly balance...

*shrug*

gos only knows how that happened...!!

;)

It seems like the 3E D&D books are geared for 4 character parties. Im curious to see how many PCs are in your campaigns, and what class mixes you have. Feel free to include names and levels if you wish.

SNIP

Just curious if most of you use the standard party of four.

We prefer a bigger party of 5 to 6 but we are abit short of players. One of the PC's is always an NPC as we roatate GMs

Ours is a low magic world basically like 7th Sea but with real earth names and a big Carribean area.

Everybody is human although Elves are just returning to the world from whatever it was they were doing in the West

Party composition

Fighter/Bard very little Bard--- uses pistols mostly
Fighter/Ranger/Soldano Blademaster-- engine of destruction
Monk with 1 cleric level. Puritan warrior nun (don't ask)
Monte Cook Ranger
Sorcerer (Me)

there are also a grip of low level pirates, an NPC cleric, an elf child and a couple of cohort types one of whom is magical in origin, having been created by a deck of many things

Our usual composition is the main party plus three or four level 1-2 types and the magic dude.

Re: Party compositions...

Live Game:

Halfling Wizard (Abjurer) 1 (me)
Halfling Cleric of Urgolan 1 / Fighter1 (just recently lost a level getting raised)
Human Fighter 2 (also lost a level getting raised, mostly an archer)
Dwarf Bard 3
Human Fighter (dual-wielder) 3
Gnome Rogue 3 (going for Techsmith from F&P)

I may go rogue next level or at third. The bard might be only second level, he's missed a few sessions.

FR_Dungeons PBEM: I DM
Elf Bard 2
Derro Rogue 1
Half-orc Fighter 1 / Cleric of Kossuth 1
Human Wizard 1
Half-orc Wizard (Conjurer) 1
Human Monk 2
Aasimar Paladin 1
Gnome Cleric of Garl 1 / Wizard (Illusionist) 1

They used to not have an arcane spellcaster. The human wizard is going Cleric of Kossuth next level, which should be intereseting since she hates the half-orc cleric of the same. The paladin is probably the most laid-back guy in the group, neat character.

Tomb_Game PBEM: I DM
Human Fighter 1 / Sorcerer 2
Halfling Paladin 3
Human Fighter 2 / Paladin1
Halfling Monk 2 / Wizard (Necromancer) 1
Half-Fiend/Half-Elf Cleric of Ilmater 0
Human Monk 3
Human Bard 2 / Wizard (Illusionist) 1

No one knows the half-fiend is a half-fiend...including the half-field. Nor are they aware that the halfling monk is a necromancer on the side or that the sorcerer has a fighter level.

Greyhawk_Cubed PBEM: I DM (Tentative, I just TPKed the group. This is where Meepo used to hang out. They're making new guys for RttToEE)
Hobgoblin Ranger 1 / Cleric of Uthgar 3
Half-orc Barbarian 1 / Druid of Mielikki 3
Wild Elf Sorcerer 4
Half-orc Barbarian 4
Wild Elf Fighter 4
Halfling Paladin / Rogue (level split unknown)
Human Caster/Rogue of some kind
Unspecified fighter-type half-orc.

*The main party*
Elf Cleric (Healing & War Domains) 7
Falatar Dwarf (psionic sub-race) Psychic Warrior 6
Human Paladin 6
(New char not yet rolled)

*Our off and on players*
Kakrali (Ever see ninja scroll? A template I build to emulate the first demon, the rock guy, ECL +4) Monk 2
Half Elf Bard 6

*The Morgue*
Minocans (smaller, aquatic minotuar, +4 ECL)/ Fighter 1 / Psychic Warrior 2
Halfling Rogue 6
Bakail (Lizard Man, +3 ECL) Barbarian 2 / Fighter 2
Halfling Rogue 6
All the above were the Subject to a near Total Party Killing, along with a NPC gray-elf Deviner 5, due to poor judgement on my part and lack of preparation on theirs (and the lack of our two off and on players that night). The cleric was the only survivor.

Malos Halfling (sub race, has a tail and some other odd features) Rogue 5
Elf Druid 6
Elf Rogue 6
*Not Quite Dead*
Human Ranger 6

All four chars above are played by the same person. I can't really say what his position in the party is generally referred to with Eric's Grandmother reading... He lost his first halfling rogue during the second combat encounter of the campaign (Never leave the area of your cleric's protection from evil when summoned elementals are about). Lost his druid due to an unfortunate incident with a scrag (always check the AC of a creature before you choose to wild-shape into one). Lost the elf rogue with a very stupid move(Never pick someone's pocket in front of the head of the town guard, particularly when he's just looking for a reason to start something with out-of-towners) before he could even join the party, literarly within 30 seconds of finshing rolling him up... Managed to get his new halfling rogue to the near TPK only because I felt bad for him and fudged a die roll (Well... actually I just had far more fun watching someone with a 1 con try and hold their breath and swim against a waterfall underwater with a swam of scruges just above the surface than I would have if I had just let his con drop to 0 and had him die of blood-loss) only to die in an area of effect spell. His ranger didn't die, but managed to get an entire tower dropped on him, dealing enough subdual damage to keep him asleep for a week, then lost his mind to some arcane Cthuluian tome tucked away in the Reality Wrinkle while I was running Speaker in Dreams… He's the (not yet rolled) in the current party listing, at the moment.
