Current Favorite Minis?

On the latter, Hell Dorado, I've heard tell that there will be some English rules forthcoming. And yeah, the Immortals do look awesome. Very awesome.

There's an official pdf with the rules in english here. (Télécharger means, literally, download.)

Me, I'll probably just use them for Song of Blades and Heroes. ;)
(Although the Immortals would perhaps fit better in the forthcoming Song of the Dragon Kings.)

I've got a demi-bajillion DDM figures, yet only a couple weeks ago I tried painting metal figures for the first time. It's fun! I'm currently working on a Reaper mini like this for my Pathfinder Society character.

Nice mini! Two things:

1. If you ever want to do a "Painting night" - I'm down. It's nice to just get everyone to pool their paints, put on some music, eat some chips, and paint. Sort of like poker night, for nerds.

2. Pathfinder Society. You know if there's anything regular going on for this in Victoria? I'm thinking of joining an ongoing game, because I'll have a bit more free time coming up soon. And 3.5E could be fun.

I just started collecting miniatures about six months ago and have kind of gone hog-wild since: I've probably spent $700 or more (and counting). Anyways, I started with Reaper and still buy them--it is hard to beat the price and they are effectively a D&D line (although their characters are better/more diverse than their monsters)--but I just recently bought my first Rackham Confrontation figures and was blown away. Since then (about a month ago) I have been buying up Confrontation figures in a fury: I'm doing what I did with Reaper, going through the Rackham store, compiling a list of what I want, looking for it on Ebay and Bartertown, updating my "queue." I feel like I kind of missed the boat, because most online sellers got rid of their stock for big discounts last summer and fall--Rackham is downsizing the metal production, evidently, if not cancelling it outright (or changing it to resins). You can still find a lot of stuff on Ebay and Bartertown, and one or two other spots online, but for the most part everything is gone. But for my money, Rackham made some of the most beautiful, detailed miniatures that have an incredible artistic sensibility.

As for other lines, Avatars of War makes some nice figures, but be warned that the greens on their website are a lot nicer than the actual metal figures. Andrea makes some nice figures, especially the 54mm Warlord line. Ultraforge has some incredible resin figures, although I haven't wanted to fork out the dough (yet). I've onlly bought a couple Games Workshop Warhammer figures--I find them to be a bit cartoony. Others that I like: Dark Sword, Ironwind, Crocodile, Hell Dorado, Freebooter, Red Box, Enigma, etc.

So again, my absolute favorite line is Rackham's Confrontation followed by Reaper; everything else is far behind.

For me, it's the DDM line. I love the pewter minis, but they're just too expensive and I suck at painting. I've got a pile of pewters that I've either sort of painted or never painted at all.. :(

With DDM I sacrifice a little quality for ease of use and extensive variety (though, admittedly, I'd like a little more variety in some race/class combinations. Seriously, the lack of double-sword wielding characters and rogues that use things other than daggers is startling)

Otherworld is very nice, as well. Good looking delightful figures. I'm currently painting a bunch of their pig-snouted orcs.

Hey, thanks for the link. i'm now the pround owner of these two horrible guys (horrible in a good way):

Fortunately i like to paint and they don't look too terribly difficult.

You're welcome! Always glad to spread the word!

I've been thinking about ordering the barbed devils the next time, but there are so many I want! The hobgoblins and kobolds tempt me sorely, and this guy will certainly be in my next order:

The great thing about Otherworld is that their old school approach makes me WANT to see what they've got coming down the line. Balor and or pit fiend? Oh yeah.
