2000AD Cyber Psionics

An ongoing Judge Dredd campaign focused on the Long Walk of several judges following on from an organised criminal activity involving corrupt judges. one of the judges, a psi-judge who was supposedly murdered had in actual fact found herself downloaded into a biochip smuggled within a batch of palmtops. Through the course of the Long Walk they are shanghaied by S/D agents following the frame job and gradually the psi-judge has begun to manifest some interesting powers...

So, Cyber-Psi is a combination of the Machine Symbiosis powers from the MGP Traveller Strontium Dog and certain cyber-psi powers from the World of Darkness - Demon Hunter X supplement. Still figuring out some aspects of the Cyber-Psi powers so a work in progress. Also, included a slightly tweaked version of the Psychometry power.

Cyber-Psi

Cyber-Psi, or Cyber Psionic Interface, is a recent phenomenon amongst psykers who have interacted with complex machinery and electronic devices. Through time any electronic device was accessible to these few psykers as the discipline of Cyber-Psi began to take shape.

In some dimensions/realities (e.g., Strontium Dog, SOLSpace), organised research has led to the advent of psionic interfaces. In this instance a device fitted with a psionic interface may use the PSI value instead of manual dexterity to operate/pilot the weapon or device. Unfortunately, a non-psyker cannot use such a psionically interfaced device. Such psionic interfaces add increase the cost of such device by 20%.

At a Cyber-Psi skill rating/grade of 6 the psyker can 'remote-access' rather than physically touch device. Furthermore, at a Cyber-Psi skill rating/grade of 10 or more the psyker can psychically hack the device (like hacking a computer).

Cyberpathy [PSI 4, Cyber-Psi] Communicate psychically with a machine (e.g., computer), determining the state of repair, properties, programming and so forth. A cyberpath may read data stored on a computer, with researchers believing the method for reading magnetic patterns in a computer’s memory not dissimilar to that of a telepath reading the electrical impulses of a target (s) human brain.

Sample information accessible through the Cyberpathy power: -

  • Specific/Hidden Functions.
  • Specific/hidden instructions or programming.
  • State of Repair or damage.
  • Amount of power left within the machine.
  • In a computer access directory structure stored on a hard disc, as well as…
  • Read datafiles.
Cyberkinesis [PSI 6, Cyber-Psi] A relatively new power, Cyberkinesis is the ability to control electronic machinery through the power of the mind. The psyker generates small-scale electromagnetic fields that may control computers and equipment, yet is unable to ‘read its mind’, which is the power of Cyberpathy. Cyberkinesis may scramble machinery (e.g. CCTV), override fixed settings, switch on or off devices.

Pyschometry (Requires PSI 2, Clairsentience). You open yourself psychically to read the psychic residue of an object accumulates from their previous owner. Time spent studying the object determines the amount of information acquired. Gain one piece of information for every 2 PP spent after activating the power, up to five turns.

For example, a street judge requests a psi-judge to find a perp who murdered a night watchman. After scanning the corpse to no avail, the street judge produces a scrap of clothing caught in barbwire that may be the perp's. Scanning the scrap of cloth, which has the perp's blood on it Judge Anderson learns that the perp is male, hurt and running. Further reading uncovers the perp is running towards bright lights - an amusement park.

More skilled Cyberpaths are capable of remote access of machinery/computers (G.M.: psykers with Cyberpathy rating of 8 minimum).

Certainly canon, Dredd has worked with a Psi-Cadet who could use her powers to take control of part of a defensive system.
Re macines and psionics the Inspektre strip showed Tek Division developing a robot that could use psionic skills.
 

Cool, also we recently agreed on a scaling in the rating in Cyber-Psi skill. At a skill rating of 6 a psyker id able to remotely access a device while at 10 a 'psychic hack' is now possible of a device. This has been amended above as well as a little proof reading.
