Cyberzombie's Education system from Asgard mag?

First off, I wasn't quite sure where to post this (House Rules, d20system, natural20press, rules, or even General) - so feel free to move this to the right forum!
I also didn't want to seem as if that was an excuse for using the General forum and it's superior visitor rate... so I initially posted this in the META Forum to see whether someone could transfer it to the right forum...
Now, I hope I'm fine here, as nothing happened with it on META, and I chose to repost it (bad me!)

Now, I've studied the above-mentioned rules change in the latest issue of Asgard, and I happen to like it.

I am concerned, however, whether players really will use the alloted skill points for background skills or whether they will uise this to gain only more major skills.

I wouldn't want all fighters to get "carft (weaponsmith)", or all clerics only take "knowledge (religion)" with their new skill points.

Has anybody really implemented the system and tried it? Or read it and didn't like it? If so, why not?

Or do you want to put my doubts to rest? Go ahead!

I presently use a system which grants 8 education skill points at first level and none at subsequent levels. There hasn't been a problem with players milking the system. However, the players in my campaign were already using a substantial number of skill points for skills like Craft(Drum Making) and Craft (Origami) even before the house rule was implemented.

After discussing Cyberzombie's article with the crew, I have decided to adopt a similar system as presented in Asgard. However, I will be making one modification. Bonus skill points will still be granted based on Intelligence. I like the manner in which all of the ability scores are useful for characters of all classes in 3rd Edition. I believe that granting bonus skill points based on primary ability scores weakens the viability of Intelligence. The barbarian is already going to be taking a high Strength, so why should he be rewarded further? At this point I am still trying to decide whether the number of education skill points should be modified by Intelligence as well (allowing a character to double dip).

Skill points for class skills aren't all based in Intelligence but rather the primary ability of the class.
Additionally, you get "education skill points" (2 + Int-mod) to buy Knowledge, Craft, Profession, perform, and languages.

How do you determine what the primary ability of a class is? I've seen fighters that emphasis strength, some dexterity, and some even constitution. You can emphasis any ability with any class. Granted, the spellcasters are a little easier to define because of the ability that their spells are based off, but it can still be something else for that character. So, does each class have a specified attribute that you're stuck with , or is more by character?

And the education skill points is interesting, really favors the Bard, though.

It's an interesting idea altogether, anyone actually use it yet?

The main abilities are stuck, and fighters have Strength.

However, there is a new feat that lets you - for the first level only - determine which ability gives you bonus points.

If you download Asgard Magazine 5 from ENWorld
( http://www.d20reviews.com/asgard.htm )
you can rfead about it in detail...

I'm thinking about using it, but I'm not sure.
Would like it if someone else would post his opinion here, and where's Cyberzombie himself?
