D&D General D&D 2024 does not deserve to succeed

This is just another D&D 5E adjacent product pretending its not that.

there are some things that I like here

4 attributes vs 6.
fixed damage boosted by going higher and higher over AC
mana points default over spell slots.
trying to have skills points back
reducing HP and damage amount

and some things I do not like:

skill points:
As I said, I like the semireturn of skill points, but then why make them into +2 chunks?
halve them into +1 chunks and deal double amount of them to pick and chose.

Reducing HP and damage, yes it's a good thing but maybe it's too low, having weapons do only 1,2 or 3 damage might be little too limiting in adding weapon properties.

attribute inflation:
while maybe starting amount is little low, it goes very high over levels.
12 default increases and 14 more from talents(seems the talent is repeatable), that is 26 increases and since you can only have an "7" at 20th level, with standard increase+20th level talent, you can have a "7" in two out 4 abilities and other two at a "6". with having point buy method and an "1" in every starting ability you can have 7,7,6,6 with 12 default increases and 10 out of 14 talents. that is too much ability inflation.

attack bonus, err mastery bonus,
+1 every odd level seems also little too much number treadmill.
say you start with 3 ability and starting +1 bonus, by 20th level you are at 7 ability and +10 bonus.
from +4 to +17, without any other potential bonuses,
I like the 5E average growth of +5 to +11 over 20 levels.

One of the reasons I got so heavily into Savage Worlds is because Shane and PEG, Inc. never, ever said (that I recall) “Our game is better than X because X sucks.”

It was almost always “Our game rocks because it does Y! And Y is Fast, Fun and Furious!” Shane spent his time saying why SW was awesome and wasted no effort on how other games were bad.

You would not believe the copious amounts of thick, milky secretions I have to suction from endotracheal tubes after intubation to insure adequate ventilations and respirations and oxygenation and ... etc... etc...

And if we go prone, it just ooooozes from them. It's disgusting.
🤢 reaction please, mods.

Oh. Sorry. Got passionate about something. Did not mean to gross anyone out. Just trying to make a point to try to nip this unhealthy habit and, hopefully, increase people’s lives and quality of life as well.

EDIT: I threw a disclaimer on that post to warn people of the ickiness to follow. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Oh, I personally do not mind grossness, I would just like to be able to reward it as it deserves.
