This isn't on WOTC, except that they listened to feedback. They offered us standardized subclasses and the fanbase rejected it, complaining about backwards compatibility. This is on the community.

if I remember correctly this is on WotC, it made the threshold and WotC still decided against it for compatibility reasons

The change did not receive the threshold of support that was needed to be implemented, and blaming WOTC (on this matter at least) is misplaced.

Once the decision is made to follow the 70% threshold (or whatever), then yes, it's on us.*

they do not do that consistently, they override it when they feel like it

Spells have always negated skills. Nothing new about that in 2024.

It wouldn't be there. It would be in the vision and/or cover rules. Or perhaps a paragraph in the spell section about line of effect.

fine, do we have to wait for the DMG then or should we find this explicitly mentioned in the PHB? Or is all we will get that hiding is a form of invisibility and we have to figure out what that means for us ourselves

when I am hidden, I am hidden, not invisible. You no more see me after I successfully hide in 3/4 cover than you would if I stood behind a wall, that is what the check was for

Any major changes to Long Rests and Short Rests, or removal of either one.

That's literally the best answer that I can give to those questions.

Any major changes to Long Rests and Short Rests, or removal of either one.

Pretty good pick. That could be worked around - 'any resources you would have gained from X Rest, multiply by Y instead when you take the Only Rest That Remains, anything in an adventure that triggers on a short rest triggers after an hour instead' - but yeah, that'd be a hassle.
