D&D 3.5, Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (Full)

Maybe I'll just ditch the whole concept and go psionic rogue or just rogue into the sniper PrC that SomethingFaster was going to initially use.

The psywar/order of the bow initiate, just 'plain vanilla' sounds pretty deadly.

Yeah it does and it's not even really that great if you look at good archer builds. I wanted something different, since it seem I'm encountering a lot of resistance, maybe I'll just do something else.

I think I'm just going to ditch the psionic character and go with a sorcerer/frost mage type, all the material for the character would be in published WotC sources and one Dragon article.

Ferrix: Patience! Ack! We're just trying to fix it up, toss it around a bit before we use it, that's all. I think it's coming along well, and you're right about rogues/barbarians/whatnot doing really well. I think I like Gryph's last suggestion, and I also think that you're right about the +10d6 thing. And finally, I do like your extra attack per round be expending the psionic focus. And with the new and improved Retain Focus, you could actually (well, depending on the wording) charge that extra attack.

Don't trash your character just because we're changing stuff. But if you've already done so, well, okay.

If clerics were the same as wizards, then you would see plenty of clerics taking craft wondrous item. But you don't. I stick by what I said - that item creation is practically a class feature of wizards. There are lots or things that fall into the domain of particular character types. Combat is the domain of fighters. Traps are the domain of rogues. Turning undead is the domain of clerics. Can other character classes also do the above with the right multiclassing/buffs/items/prestige classes? You bet. But that doesn't really change my point.

I considered the mercantile feat for another FR game on these boards a while back, but I ended up not even suggesting it to the GM, because it seemed so broken to me. Crafting is balanced by the xp costs. The mercantile feat is not balanced by anything. One could just say that the whole party has been friends from level one, therefore every single character gets almost 150% starting wealth (since everything was sold at 75% value instead of 50%).

I think I do understand your point of view - its something along the lines of: silentspace's character is broken, so my character should be broken too. Or if silentspaces' character isn't broken, then my character isn't broken either. I think I see and understand your arguments, I just don't agree ;)

For the last time, I don't care about your use of the Lady's College (I personally wouldn't allow it in a game I ran as part of a characters backstory where it didn't impact on their gaining of XP, but that's Rae's call).

I don't understand what you mean.

On another note, has anyone considered an artificer with the mercantile feat? Talk about broken :)
