No, Improved Grapple allows you to avoid the AoO that starting a grapple (the initial touch attack) normally provokes and gives you a +4 on all grapple checks. You can choose to attempt to deal lethal damage by taking a -4 on your grapple check.

Thanks Monkey. Since i already made the roll (a pretty high one), let's stick with non-lethal for now. I can always coup-de-grace him later if i need to.

I should probably include this in my combat posts along with HP and AC, but Evan has DR 5/Cold Iron, so while it won't affect the electric damage, it'll stop all 4 of the first club's physical, and 5 of the second club's physical damage (Unless they're cold-iron clubs), leaving him with 7 non-lethal damage.

Monkey will be completely offline from May 27th to June 3rd. I will be updating my games on Monday (May 25th) and Tuesday (May 26th) but after that, don't expect to see me again until June 4th.

Monkey is back (late).

I'm going to a once a week update schedule as I find myself spending much less time online.

For combats, the bad guys will always be going last in the initiative from now on, so everyone can post their actions and I'll just organize them into initiative order in the Round summary post. Hopefully this won't be too confusing and it will allow everyone to post without having to wait on another player.
