D&D 4.0 - What the?

You know, I wonder if there's somebody at WoTC whose job is to read D&D messageboards for player input/feedback...

The pay would suck, but otherwise that job would just rock.

hey, if you're reading this thread, WoTC represenative, couldja just post real quick and say hi?

Right after the COMBAT section of every monster writeup in the various manuals and modules have a new section called ROLEPLAY,

Yes!

DMs can then pick and choose from the advice as they see fit.

This would need to be reinforced, such as:

Disclaimer: The above was just an example I made up on the spot and may not be indicative of YOUR bugbears. ;)

This would avoid arguments along the lines of "That Bugbear in the ascot is reading a book! He must be ~important~! We should kill him!". Or somesuch.

This is supposing that WotC does the 4e D&D, right? What if they (Hasbro) sell the license off to some other company?

i don't think they are gonna answer.
Yeah, I guess n... hey waitagoddamsecond.... It's YOU, isn't it, diaglo! (If that's your real name) All that schtick about OD&D is just a cover! You're part of the secret development team for 4.0! You thought you could reply, fulfilling my request, but, amusingly, still remain anonomous. Well, the gig's up, buddy! 'Fess up!

Well, then whatever company buys the license should be looking for the player feedback.

I'll note, though, that internet messageboards don't reflect a majority, or even a representative sample, of the overall player base. What's called for is some solid market research and feedback. That may include messageboards, but not be limited to them by a long shot.

message boards alone aren't the whole source. surveys like those cards you find in the products also help. and should be considered part of the purchase. also retailers/distributors/designers/publishers/the rest of the package need to have some input.

consumers alone may not know exactly what is out there and may miss some of the good stuff.

it is upto the purchasing company to do some basic footwork.

We might not be a majority, but we're sure as hell a vocal minority!

Well, if you mean that we flap our virtual jaws a lot at each other, yes. I'm not sure how vocal we are in the sense of doing a good job of communicating our likes and dislikes to the designers.

Either way, though, being an obnoxious loudmouth may or may not be constructive :)
