The cause of death is evident: there is no more blood in him due to the many holes, tears, and rips in his body. He appears to have been dead no more than a day or two at the most.

Vatan is about 10 feet back from it with bow at the ready and arrow under minimum tension. He is looking around for any other signs of occupation, bodies or ambush. "T'is a might strange that he be the ONLY body lyin' here 'bouts. There be much destruction but nary a sign o' others. Best 'ware ourselves o' ambush"

"Well color me impressed that elf lady is somethin' eh ?" he mutters to himself.

Druthruss will stick to his plan and circle around the whole village hiding in scrub, bushes etc and being as stealthy as possible looking for scum within bowshot. He will take out his hand crossbow. If he does spot any then he will get within xbow range, watch them and prepare to fire but await a moment before they actually look like they are going to.

[SBLOCK]He rolls a 7 for stealth. Not too great but its +9 on that to make 16 and will use available cover as much as possible. He has low light vision and +8 perception to aid in the hunt.[/SBLOCK]

Pier takes up a station near Vatan, facing in the opposite direction while Druthruss and the wolf do their scouting. He is a bit too obvious in looking anywhere but directly at the torn corpse. "Perhaps the town was forewarned, and the rest escaped?"

You can feel it coming, you just don't know when. Take this moment to prepare and/or move to a better location. I won't update until at least 0800 central time (about 12 hours from this post), so you've got at least that long to do it, maybe longer. But if you haven't acted by then I reserve the right to move on and keep you in your current position.

"Take cover, I'll draw their attention, we shall make them pay." Jude says bravely (stupidly ;)) as he straps on his shield and draws his sword, moving to stand protectively over the body. The horrors of war have been brought to these peoples, they likely had not gone searching for trouble, but rather it showed up at their doors. "Rest easy stranger, know that I shall not allow your murderers to leave this place alive." the warrior thinks as he looks down on the corpse, its face indeliably burned into his memory in the seconds he has before the enemies find them.

"Aye, lad. They be near. I can almost smell the poxy scum." Vatan will move to O6 and put his back to the wall and keeps looking fore and aft for a target. His bow will be at the ready and 1/2 drawn. Sword and dagger are loose in their sheaths.
 

Still wearing the body of a wolf, Aridha growls and looks around with her ears flat against her head. She quickly trots ahead and leaps through the collapsed wall of a building to take cover in the stonework and wait to see what faint sound or scent has prickled her hackles...

(Moving to J10)
 

The tense silence is broken by what sounds like a door being kicked off its hinges. "Here wolfie! Time for dinner!" a boisterous voice erupts. Surprisingly, it's speaking not in the goblin tongue, but in broken common. A quartet of orcs round a corner, and pause at the sight of your group standing in the center of the street, apparently forgetting about the wolf. A particularly nasty-looking fellow with a greataxe grins as a line of spittle traces his chin. "Dessert!" he says with a low growl, and the others give a hearty chuckle as they raise their weapons.

Note: Smoke from the burning buildings offer concealment (-2 penalty to attack rolls) on the entire map (though none of the buildings on this map are currently burning).
Areas of rubble are considered difficult terrain.
