[D&D 4e] IG's "The Witchlight Strand"

Aridha goes off in another direction than Druthress and Vatan, wishing to widen the net, as it were. With some effort, she molds her shape to resemble a rangy, large dog than a wolf...and in that form she trots through the town streets, looking for survivors...or more pockets of orcs that might need killin'.

The search in the immediate area reveals nothing. However, around a corner, farther down the lane, there is an overturned cart in the center of the road.

[sblock=O'Beth]Shortly after your arrival to Hania, the town was besieged by a savage band of orcs. You've heard rumors of the Savage War even in Tyrborg, and have no witnessed it first hand.

Currently, you find yourself in an abandoned building with Andri Ziuul, a newly grieving widow. Her husband, Isoll, was slain by the orcs. She would have been too, had it not been for you. Andri and her husband were attempting to make their way to the town square, where the last of the refugees have barricaded themselves inside the tavern.

The sounds of battle have resonated through the streets over the last several minutes, and have only just now subsided.

For now, all is quiet.[/sblock]

Turning back to the rest of the group Vatan will whisper (yes WHISPER) "Shhhh. Thar be a cart 'round yon corner. 'Tis overturned, an' methinks it be another trick o' the cowardly scum. 'Ware doors and roofs 'n kill anything tha' be thowin' anythin'." He will then proceed down the lane, using all caution (checking all opening, roofs, nooks and other hiding places) and with his bow under full tension but pointing down.

[sblock=DM] "Well now me lass," O'beth says while still looking out the slit in the curtains. "Ah do believe we shuild take to dae square, and sees if'n dis be finally over."

O'beth gathers up his belongs and a few extra things for the poor widow. He then starts out the door and down the street widow in tow.

OOC: He will try to be quiet (not a strong suit though) Stealth -1 :p[/sblock]

[sblock=O'Beth]Nervous and shaking, she goes with you. Her white-knuckled fist grips you tightly.

As you step through the door and make a few paces, you notice another human male with a flaming red beard lurking from an alleyway. More importantly, you notice him notice you.

Minor Quest: Escort Andri Ziuul safely to the town square.

Vatan sees a human man clad in chainmail slink through one of the doorways. A woman, a commoner by her looks, clings to his side as they both make their way nervously toward the cart. Vatan stops for a moment as he feels both sets of eyes settle upon him from across the way.

[sblock=OOC]Ok, so I probably should have made the cart a little bigger. Sue me. :)[/sblock]

Upon seeing motion to his right Vatan's bow comes up to aim at the perpetrators. He lowers the bow a bit and says "We found some survivors, Lads!" before realizing that they are trying to be quiet. He then gestures to the two humans to hurry over to where he is. He then continues to check the roofs and openings for hostiles, sighting along the arrow. Specific attention is being paid to the opening at D9 and D11 and the wall opposite the human's location, and he moves to G5 with occasional glances to the west.

The man in chain looks like a warrior except that hes using a hammer which means he could be a priest which means magic and so far Druthruss has not fared well against magic. So as to avoid being in direct line of a spell and to get a better line of fire he moves to J6 points his crossbow directly across the expanse and keeps and eye on the forward and left alleys and doors.

Pier brushes past the Aridha-dog to check the nearby door. If it is unlocked, he'll step inside to check for other survivors. He keeps an ear out for a scuffle outside, though, in case the newcomers bring more orcs down on us or turn out to be hostile themselves.

[sblock]
Move: J9, if the door is unlocked. Else return to K6.
