These weapon designs suck.

(though the pick with the thong is...intriguing)

How dare MAGIC weapons made of materials that dont exist on Earth by a DWARVEN smith who has practiced his trade for 300 YEARS and trained in the tradition of a people who have been smithing certain weapons and armor longer than any civilization on Earth NOT look EXACLTY like 14th century England weaponry. HOW UNREALISTIC!!1!

That Dragon Pic makes me think I'll dig the artwork overall in 4e (if thats a sign of what's to come...)

But I agree with the poster that said that particular piece doesn't sit well...

The adventurers look like they decided to go buckwild, but the dragon is just kid of like "uh huh? what???"

Maybe that's the point though...

I'm really liking the tiefling art. Is there a third blade on his tail? And why, despite being described as a fighter, does there seem to be a scroll case on his hip?

Also like the idea of racial weapon styles, if that is indeed the case with 4e, but I fear that if there any mechanical differences, even minor ones, any player with the slightest inclination toward powergaming will end up using the same style every time. This would make your human fighter who carries a dwarven sword for RP reasons much less special.

I think they are dwarven weapons. A picture for each race-to emphasize the difference between races for each class.

Oh yeah. Dwarves are squat, rough and bulky (and short) so their weapons are too.

One good thing is that maybe halflings will get to wield daggers that do 1d4 and shortswords that do 1d6 again.

The tieflings have ridiculous swords/daggers, I'm a big fan of the 3E green dragon's look so I don't like the new pic of that beastie, and the covers of the Big Three disappoint. But despite those things, the black and white sketches and the pics in the promo video are enough to make me optimistic about 4E's overall style. The dwarves in particular look great.

in 3.5 the barbed dagger was an exotic weapon that did an extra 2 points of sneak damage whil e flanking. I wonder if the barbs on the tiefling daggers are for showin' or for blowin'

Is that a pointy wizard hat I see in the background? If so, then I have my first negative reaction to 4e. Dear gods, spare me from the 'old school'.
I don't mind pointy wiz hats at all if they look cool like this.
