Is there a point to this thing? It's not like it is interactive.

Take a look at what impact the individual classes have on the adventure, dependant on the enviroment it takes place in. There are "rare" adventures as well that crop up every once so often.

Additionally, you can equip your hero and pick the destination of specific locales. You can use potions and limited items as well before the adventure, shop and sell. Once you begin to retire adventurers, you can access new classes as well.

I have a strong feeling the next iteration of this application will allow you to team up with friends.

Don't forget you get class abilities that are usable once per adventure (for several encounters) once you get through a few characters.

I heard someone say the entire team developing this got sacked in the cutbacks. Don't know whether it was true or not, but the implication was that it was as developed as it is going to get.

One of the best parts of the game is that you unlock new features with each retired character. Once you reach generation 10 and the "advanced class powers", you've got a bunch more strategic options to maximizing your score than you do upon first installation.

Granted, it takes a while to get to that point. But it's a mighty addictive game, and one that is easily played in the background while you go about your daily work.

I'm on my 17th character.

One other thing I like about the game- the core fun of it doesn't depend on the "pyramid scheme" of recruiting all your friends to add the application to their pages.

Sure, your friends can heal your character while he's in between adventures and give you +1 buffs on your encounters, but those are really just little conveniences and not the easy road to racking up elite status.

Really well-designed in that instance. Now, if they could have had some better flavor text on some of the encounter descriptions...
