What is unbefitting a cleric? I imagine a character much like Michael Moorecock's Eternal Champion. A celestial being or highly enlightened mortal servant in the service of Bahamut is closing in on perfecting his soul and receiving his reward of a place among the Platinum Dragon's celestial court when a new task is assigned. Once again a mortal shell is created and this being's soul is placed within, dim memories crowding his mind. As he comes to terms with his new surroundings and fleshly shell, the one overarching thought is to fulfill his master's wishes. His new role is that of a spiritual and intellectual guide to those who will participate in this endeavor. To that end, Quinn has been blessed with a conduit to Bahamut in the form of priestly annoitment and the power of prayer. The dim memories sometimes clamoring for attention in Quinn's mind are not voices of distraction, but voices of encouragement and direction. They keep him on the path and are a constant reminder of his duty and the awesomeness that is his master, Bahamut.
Does that satisfy the unease you have about the background? I love the idea that Quinn is but one of many many versions of this immortal soul that has served on this and other planes combating evil and injustice. I love the idea that he may have been a paladin or a thief in another incarnation. He may even have been a woman...who knows? I t doesn't have any tangible effects on game mechanics other than a possible reroll once in a while. But the plot hooks and role playing possibilities!!!
As to the armor...forget about it. I thought about it and realized that it would be easier for me to upgrade my equipment than most of the party's through game play simply because my build doesn't require much. No weapons, ammo, and I'm not a front liner, so no immediate need for heavy armor. Thanks for the offer, though. I'll trade it for a tattoo on my Johnson that says "Bahamut blesses you and bestows upon you and your children a life of golden prosperity and fruition of your grandest dreams" in large bold script.

1) It wasn't a clerical background....it was a deva background.
2) One of them implied theivery in a past life (lives)...forgotten lifetime.....you get endurance and thievery.
3) The other had a similar "negative" ring to it....Brink of Corruption....if you choose that you get intimidate and stealth added to list
Brink of enlightenment reads as follows:
You were an incredibly advanced soul in a past life.
Close to achieving epic transendence.
Whatever interupted your spirtual journey had you reborn as the adventurer you are.
It adds Arcana,
About the MicroChain...it was only +1 to AC....one step above cloth armor....if you do not want it, you will not have it.
If you prefer either of the other two then by all means choose them.
Brink of Enlightenment sounded more in tune with your background story.
The choice is entirely yours.

I expect that we'll end up using teamspeak after all. Its a simple download and you guys can show me how to get set up if I run into any probs. That will take care of the sound. Glittercomm should take care of the rest. If you want to start sooner than the two weeks, then lets play by post on the honor system. It's not the ideal situation and I dont care for it personally, but I'll deal for a few sessions. As far as scheduling, pretty much any time is good for me. I am a self employed guy and can mess with my schedule a bit.
Just out of curiosity, why can't we just play on dimdim for a few weeks until you get your hardware in order? it has everything but a dice roller and we'll just have to be on the honor system for that. there should be a way for you to post images for maps and we can use the whiteboard for combat if we tinker with it a bit.
