D&D Basic Set (3.5E)

It has been pointed out to me that the box artwork of the D&D Basic Set coming out later this year, depicts Redgar fighting a Black Dragon.

Earlier this year, Rob Heinsoo said, "Now that there has been a decision, we want to let people know that a rare mini from Dragoneye, the Black Dragon (44/60), is going to appear in a future non-random D&D product. More information will appear closer to that product's release. In the unlikely event of a change in plan, we'll let you know right away."

I think it extremely likely that the Basic set will include both Regdar and the Black Dragon figure.

I'm still on the fence about this product. On the one hand, an "adventure-in-a-box" appeals to me, for rainy-day sessions, and for new players. On the negative side, I fear it may just take up shelf space and be useless to me.

If the basic set is cheap enough ($20 or less), I'll probably buy it as a gift for the kids of anybody I know, but I certainly wouldn't plan to buy it because of the minis inside.

i love me some boxed sets.

heck, i purchased the Adventure Begins boxed set for $10 for my nephew last Xmas...... and i don't even care for the 2000ed.

I'll buy it, though I have never used nor wanted minis. I bought the 3.0 boxed set and used it to teach my husband to play. I'll be glad to have this one around in case I find another victim, er, newbie.
