D&D Board Game

but it's a boad game not a role-playing game. If they attempted to keep the flexibility and make it a board game we'd have another boxed set which was nothing more then a sales pitch for the full game.

Oh, I'm not saying I have a problem with this approach, it's just my general impression of the direction this seems to be aimed in.

No polyhedra = less counting = faster paced game

I will definitely take a look. I loved Hero Quest but I don't want another game exactly like it. Hopefully players can customize their PCs to an extent - and hopefully the learning curve isn't too steep. I too have friends that like to play DnD but don't have the time for campaigns. This board game could be right up their alley.

FEAR MIALEE'S BEACHBALL OF DOOM!!!

Aside from that, it reminds me a lot (in terms of the dice, the board and the monster figures) of Mutant Chronicles: Siege of the Citidel, which is a wicked-cool game. With enough boards and scenarios, this could see hours of fun for the whole family. I could see using it to introduce my daughter to D&D.

Of course she's not quite 2 yet, so it'll still be a while. In the mean time, I'm developing Little Bunny Foo Foo: The Roleplaying Game. My wife seems a bit resistant to the concept.

Didn't they do this before, it was called Dragonstrike.

First, check the sig..

Second, if it were Dragonstrike the you, Regdar, would be named fighter and look like an American Gladiator.

aaah Dragon Strike :)

I think they need to include a video ala Dragon Strike :) I remember playing the dragon strike game maybe once or twice, but watching that video, which had the production qualties of a 9th grade video course, about 30 times. This video has spawned more jokes in our game then I can count :) Some "Hi-lites"..

* The DM's attire, apprently to make it seem like he has no body, they dressed him in a black turtle neck in a dark room. We actually have made our DMS wear similar outfits.

*The way the DM says "your on" about twenty times.
Player: I wanna play the fighter
DM: YOUR ON

*The "fighter" This guy looks like he aquired his acting skills somewhere else, then finding out his "name" is Kid Fury pretty much confermed it.

*The way above fighter says the word Cleric... help us cllaaarrricc.....

*When the fall about 100 feet from the evil castle walls, but all fall sideways unharmed.

I'm sure theres plenty more... any one else care to share their favorite scene?

YOUR ON

If those minis are pre-painted, I'm impressed. Now if the WoTC minis game could be painted that good.....
I second this statement. If the DnD mini's paint jobs looked that good I would actually buy them in spite of the random packaging.

Looks like some useful maps and a few extra minis to me. And those dice could be used in a regular game for some sort of "in-game game" or other. Any entry level avenues that can be created for the hobby is al fine by me and it appears there may be some useful stuff in there for us vets. :)

* The DM asking, "Are you feeling brave tonight?:

* The elf's quote: "They will pay for this perversion of nature!"

* Cheesy minotaur + cheesy spring trap = loads of cheesy fun.

* And finally, who can forget our heroes next adventure - at the floating castle across the street?

Moral of the Story:
