D&D Board Game

No kobolds, but other than that it looks nice. I'm a huge fan of Hero Quest, but always found it a little lacking - this could turn out to be a really fun game.

My first introduction to a DnD like game was a board game called dungeon (anyone else remember this).

This seems like a wierd melding of the box set and a board game to allow play without a DM.

Personally I like the simple dice and the colorful board now maybe I can convince my SO to allow the kid to play.

I'll agree - BAAAAD job on Mialee, pretty good job on the others. Looks a lot like heroquest in form and setup. I hope the figures are painted. If it is Heroquest-ish, it could be useful, because heroquest brought my friends and I many, many hours of entertainment when there just isn't enough time to get together for a full-on D&D session (1 or 2 hours).

It looks like they definitely took a page from Heroquest with the dice. Judging by the looks of them I'd say they are determining number of hits/misses and effects directly (roll three swords, get three hits...) It cuts out a lot of math that way I guess, but of course limits the range of possibility quite a bit.

but it's a boad game not a role-playing game. If they attempted to keep the flexibility and make it a board game we'd have another boxed set which was nothing more then a sales pitch for the full game.
