After watching the show straight through (just got it on DVD from jolly old England) I couldn't help but notice that bobby is ALWAYS surprised to see DM... no matter what. And you would think that after a while the Unicorn would actually start to get bigger. I did not find the unicorn nearly as annoying as the unicorn and the kid combined. Mainly because the unicorn was sarcastic in a really funny way that the kid was not.
So without further ado, mine goes like this:
In the course of redeeming Venger, the ranger dies, and at this point the kids realise it is not a game. The DM appears and after explaining vengers background, thanks them for giving him back his son. The kids, distruaght, angry and really freaking out state that the Realm really isn't fun anymore and demand the portal home. The redeemed venger informs them that they have always had the portal home, that it was the magicians hat, and had they really wanted to go home, all they had to do was go through the hat. The BIG clue being that presto pulls lots of modern stuff out of the hat ALL THE TIME. But the redeemed Venger points out that in their hearts they really did not want to leave, until now, or they would have figured it out, and that somtimes the journy is the destination. Durring this explanation the redeemed Venger uses his magic to bring the ranger back to life with the explanation that one good turn deserves another. DM then gives them the option to stay or go. All but Eric choose to go home. After a sad goodby (Bobby realising that he really likes Eric now and asking him to take care of uni, and the others talking about how he has really changed, and Eric saying he has a lot more to learn) and giving Eric all the magic items, the kids enter the hat and the hat disappears. The end is DM watching Eric walk into the sunset argueing with the unicorn as to which way is best to go. The last phrase after a short little speech by DM about how he is sure Eric will have many great adventures is the cavalier chasing after the beast and muttering under his breath "stupid unicorn."
