D&D Cartoon's final Episode... your way.

The father-son connection is introduced in the show itself. Introduced by an extremely short scene at the end of what I think was the final show that actually aired, yes, but it was introduced. Venger never struck me as a guy who could be redeemed over the course of one episode, though. The "infinite cheese of Love" can redeem anything on a TV show or movie almost instantly, I guess.

Actually upon recent reviewing, there are about 5, 6, or 7 scenes that indicate that there is an emotional father son relationship between dungeon master and venger. There are two episodes where it is stated explicity. And "The Dragons Graveyard" was not the last to air. It was "Cave of the Fairy Dragons."

You're kidding, right?

That show was among the worst dregs of an opportunistic feeding frenzy of merchandising that stands as one of the lowest points in the history of gaming.

I'm sorry to sound like a grouchy old man. Maybe I was just too old for it by the time it came out, but I considered that show an embarrassment when it aired, and 20+ years hasn't changed my mind. It was just an insipid cash grab.

Wow, never heard anyone say that before. Heck, that cartoon came along when I had only heard of D&D and seen ads in the backs on comic books. It was one of the things that pretty much kept me interested in D&D through the long years before I ever met someone who actually played.

But I always hated Bobby & Uni, and wished the show was more serious.

I liked the cartoon for the most part. Sure, there were things here and there I didn't always care for, but hey, nothings perfect.

What cartoon in the 80's wasn't? Name one that was actually not a 30 minute comercial for something! :) The only one I can think of off the top of my head is "the smurfs."

As a show D&D was pretty groundbreaking. There was a lot in there that other shows were not willing to do. The best example was when the kids decide they are going to KILL the main bad guy. And they almost do. The show actually broke a lot of the "can't show this on saturday morning cartoons" rules. Indeed, it is rated PG. But it was also one of the most moralistic shows around. And It was less around marketing than other shows. I think that had a lot to do with Gygax having a hand in the production. Transformers was far worse on the "dregs of an opportunistic feeding frenzy of merchandising."

Now I am not saying it is one of the greatest pieces of art ever to grace the face of the earth. But it was fun. Some of the images and ideas are great to mine for ideas. In fact I always come up with somthing fairly unique when I watch that show. The dialogue was pretty bad, and the kid and the unicorn are very annoying. But there are redemable elements in there. Just like the last unicron. ( <--I am leaving this typo in cause its just a damn funny image!!!) Great animated movie, but whats up with that soundtrack?!!!
