D&D Dice Masters Announced!(?)

Interesting. I played Quarriors a couple of times and I enjoyed it, although my experience was limited. At least, I'll check it out.

Apparently there has been significant improvements. The new Marvel Dice Masters game has been received very well indeed and corrects some of the significant flaws in Quarriors.

It hasn't yet received enough ratings on Boardgamegeek to be properly judged against other games, but the pure average of 8.21 from 671 ratings indicate there is probably something there.

Cheers!

Certainly something I can't see myself getting, unless they end up in boardgame stores over here in NZ. But didn't DND have a (EDIT: another, previous*) collectible dice game, instead of CCG, at some point? Hopefully it does better than that!

Gaming is a very different place than when Dragon Dice came out. Watching the sales of Marvel Dice Masters is proof of that.

Cheers!

As I recall, Dragon Dice did very well, initially. But it did die off rather rapidly and bit TSR in the end (I doubt Hasbro/WotC would run into the same issue - or at least, I hope they're smarter than that). I'm just hoping it doesn't lead back to the return of Spellfire, Blood War and that sort of craziness. I just get sort of flustered - and nervous - when D&D goes off on a tangent and does these things like 3-Dragon Ante, Tavern Brawl and things of that nature. Rarely do they amount to anything (positively) memorable.

Oddly enough, I still have my old Dragon Dice. Only ever played two games of it.

Yea, around here that game is HUGE. Almost Magic huge.

Lords of Waterdeep is something big, especially as it's now an iOS game.

The trouble with Dragon Dice, IIRC, is that Lorraine Williams looked at the initial sales figures and said "Print another million of them!" There wasn't an ongoing strategy here, and it showed.

Plus, this game is not actually produced by Wizards of the Coast - it's licensed to WizKids, who are also doing the miniatures and the D&D Attack Wing game.

Cheers!

Mearls wasn't kidding that they were going to expand the brand. First they jump on the X-Wing hotness and now the Marvel Dice Masters craze.

The should make a Forgotten Realms intrigue game along the lines of the Battlestar Galactica board game.
