D&D Dreams

Michael Morris

First Post
I had a dream this morning that was sort of a D&D/d20 modern cross. A school was being held hostage by terrorists? (you know how dreams are). I distinctly remember going in under protection from normal missiles, stoneskin, casting Power Word Kill on several bad guys and cutting loose with a few lightning bolts.

Oh, and I was using a fly spell too :p

Ever had a dream like that?

Kind of...

Several of my dreams usually have me clapping instead of doing fancy hand gestures for magic spells. I once dreamed that I used Chain Lightning on a gang that was mugging a woman. Sometimes I also have the strange ability to jump really high over trees and power lines.

Then there are the dreams where I'm actually roleplaying with my old gaming group.

i used to have dreams where i was more dream master superhero then D&D
learning how to fly (pulling up before hitting the ground)
being tuned in to a hulk type nazi experiment that breaks lose and leaps great hights and piledrives people in to the ground or fist through chest
fighting freddy crouger on a train with a bomb, it blows up , i find my self on the tracks with my ribs poking out of my chest, so i push them back in and it heals right up

and of corse my reacuring nightmare of post apocoliptic towns and soul gathering that i had
since i could remember untill i was 14 where i finaly defeated the main villian
the whole story some other time

I remember having a really wierd, Planescapy dream where a faction had decided to bring about the Apocalypse simply by believing that it was about to happen, so I had to round up a bunch of anti-apocalites and members of the Revolutionary League (a Planescape faction) to stop them.

I've dreamed little bits of D&D a lot of times, sometimes as a player, sometimes narrating the dream like a DM.

Demiurge out.

Sounds great, but not really D&D. Mutants and Masterminds, maybe...

I had a great one where I found myself in this empty castle, and slowly located my friends inside (nothing dangerous, just an extremely detailed large castle). Around when I'd found everybody I was looking for we realized the castle was about to come under attack by these grey-skinned humanoids (looked like tattooed stone giants). We essentially had the powers of D&D characters, and knew what we were doing. I was definitely a fighter, but we had a mage and a monk for sure.

Actually, that was one of my most vivid dreams ever. Wouldn't make too bad of a short scenario, either, as long as you established something that needed to be defended (put a newborn gold dragon clutch in the middle of the castle or something).

I dream of D&D sometimes. The first ever of such dreams, was during AD&D 1e: I dreamed I was my Cavalier character but of level 30, and was travelling through the plane of Arcadia.

Another, much later, that I remember: I was a wizard, and with a player of my group who was (in the dream and in our games) also a wizard, we intruded the lair of a necromancer. We try to sabotage some things and then I spot the necromancer teleporting in. I scream: FIREBALL!! FIREBALL!!, and my friend and me cast as many fireballs as we can at the necromancer. Then, as he resisted most of the spells, I ended grappling with him. Dream ended there.

When I was much younger (around 12ish) I dreamed I was doing a dungeon crawl. After fighting several baddies I entered a large cave with a red dragon, he breathed, I woke up(sort of - you now that groggy kind of half sleep) My room was bathed in a firery red light, so I did a tuck and roll out bed, grabbing my plastic sword (I don't know either, it was recationary) and bounding to my feet!! Only to realize I was attacking the sunrise. :heh:

Oh well, at least nobody else knows...D'oh!
