D&D for Dummies (D&D4D) should be out in the US by now. If you've got it, please let us know what it's like, what you think of it and why.

It isn't out here for several weeks. :\

It's not supposed to be released until tomorrow, I thought. I ordered mine Monday...it should be here by next Monday. I don't expect it to be any great revelation for the game, but actually just bought it for the novelty. I'm sure there'll be some good tips in it (most of the Dummies books are actually pretty helpful), though.

The Dummies site has a few teasers.

Only thing I'm disappointed in is the amount of shilling for other WoTC products. Like under Ten Best Products, they have Weapons of Legacy. Book isn't out yet. Under ten best novels, they list whole series as opposed to single books. Miniatures are pimped out at every opportunity.

Perhaps the remaining parts of the book focus on playing but those top ten sections were truly pimping.

Did anyone else find it odd that the sorcerer completly suplanted the Wizard?

No. This happens in the basic game, the boxed set, as well. It's easier for a new person to just pick and play instead of deciding what spells they memorize.

Also they list the Weapons of . . . book, but not the Complete series. They have a Hero series (I assume this is the same thing)

Also the Dungeon Master's Guide II isn't listed in the DM's books section.

I think that listing books that arn't out yet is a good idea though (because they will not likley update this book for some time and it can easily become dated.)

Looking at the index it looks like this may be because the only times minis are mentioned is a large portion of the excerpt. It looks like we have seen almost the entire portion of the book devoted to minis (except 1 page) and judging by other Dummies books if there is a spot in the index for it, it lists EVERY time it appears (their ndexes rock.)
