It's the updated version of "Time Travel for Dummies." They had to change the name so those who aren't Chrononauts won't check it out.

Here is the release date found on the amazon.com webpage.

Does anyone else think it's funny that "D&D for Dummies" clocks in at a whopping 384 pages?

And although the book has certainly got me curious, I can't help but wonder: what on earth will be in it that isn't already covered by the core books and the new basic set? Is it a book teaching one how to play D&D? Or is it a meta-book about D&D itself, the history, myths, subculture, etc.?

It is initially chuckle-worthy. But most Dummies books are much larger print, many diagrams and pictures, large margins, etc. I would expect to see dozens and dozens of grid diagrams for AoO's, line of site/effect, cover, squeezing, reach, spell-effect templates also.

I am holding out hope that this book might offer advice for planing a rules-lite D&D. Seems reasonable.

IIRC, dec 31 1969 is the default Amazon date for a book with no release date (yet). Its the lowest number in the database.

If the rest of the page is correct, (big IF), then the publisher's date (5/2005) is more in line.

I'd love to see it both as a guide to the game and to gaming subculture.

Course, it could be blank for all I care, I just want it sitting on my bookshelf.

I thought people were kidding when they mentioned this book, but I really can't believe it's come to this. That's kinda sad. I mean... the rules aren't THAT complicated, are they? And they've got the new Basic D&D coming out.

Or, maybe, they just want to release it early enough to give us five years to read about, and understand the game, before it is written in 1974...?
