IMO There did not seem to be any biased reporting. Just an argument over a girl and the guy DMing was trying to screw the other one over. I don't think this is in the D&D made me do it basket; just that D&D was one of the tools used to carry on a disagreement - and funnily enough, I can imagine how this could have partly contributed to the offence.

Not that it matters, really, but the first story had a dateline of Cedar City, which is a smallish college town like 4 hours South of Salt Lake, and the second took place in Orem, which is about an hour South of Salt Lake.

Folks in Utah, just like other places, come in all types. No doubt there are a lot of them who read this story in the Tribune and shook their heads, just knowing that the devil made these kids do it. My mom was (is) one of these people.

I am not sure I am ready to write this whole article off as sensational journalism. I've read it over a couple times, and it looks like to me even though the guy had some other issues with his victim, and it appeared to be some kind of midnight sleeping pill induced rampage/hallucination, the trigger looks to be their D&D game.

So, you know, DMs be careful the next time you crit on the wizard and he goes down like a bitch. You might just end up paying. . .

What wasn't reported was that the real reason they fought wasn't because of the girl. One of them wanted to play 4E, and the other wanted to play Pathfinder.
