I would here like to note that the Finnish word for 'elf' is actually 'haltia'... 'Haltija' means 'owner', in legal terminology.

Oh poor Tessy, your HeroQuest kung-fu is weak. They spelt it 'haltija' in that game, so that must be the correct spelling, because HeroQuest ROCKS!

Though we had several German entries, you ask for our first language. Like so many Germans, German isn't really my first language. It's Saarlännisch.

Alas, I can't do something similar 'cause my knowledge of dialects is limited - I'm not even very good at Wienerisch. (I'm Viennese, but my first language is German anyway. My upbringing was a little sheltered, you see.)

I might try my hand at Latin later, though. *edit* Or not, as someone else has done so already.

Well, mine's limited to our own (though I know something about the different sub-dialects used. There is no one single dialect in Saarland, but a lot of different ones with subtle, but sometimes quite big differences. Heck, I can go to a village a couple of kilometers away and hear a couple of words I never use at home.), and of course a little stereotyped knowledge of other famous ones, like Östdeutsch ;-)

I'm sorry for your loss. Though you have the advantage that you have no problems whatsoever speaking proper German. I'm good at German, good at English, but still actually speaking German aloud is a struggle for me.
