D&D (2024) D&D Monster Manual (2025)

This quote from the winter wolf entry is chilling (literally)!

A lot of these little quotes flesh out monster personality well. I also love how each elemental (fire, earth, air, water) has a quote from a genie of that type, explaining why their element is superior.

Also a fan of the glabrezu's entry, which features the demon tempting someone into an evil choice. Fitting!

Gripe Gripe. We are put things in alphabetical order. Cultist, Cultist fantaic, Cultist Hierophant, Aberrant cultist, Death cultists.
Wait WHAT. GrumBle Whine.

Yeah, if they had taken a consistent approach I'd be much more onboard with it.

It is consistent, within a straightforward pattern: variants are grouped together, non variants are not. Ancient Blue Algona and Blue Dragon Wyrmlings are variants, so they are grouped under "Blue Dragon". Blue Dragons and Silver Dragons are not variants of each other, so they have seperate entries.

I guess. Just seem weird at first blush. I look forward to seeing it for myself when I get the book tomorrow.

I am ok with it mostly, but I would have preferred Dragons, Demons, Devils, and Yugoloths be grouped or at least in the group entry at the appendix have an explanation about them.
The DMG goes over the cosmological lore about as much as the 2014 MM did. I have to be honest, it didn't really bother me per se, ut having like a third of the MM be in D made the alphabetical organization feel a little bit silly at times.

these in-world narrative entries are some of my favorites of the new MM.
