D&D Troll (PC) Template Needed?

I just got into D&D. I know nothing about it. All I know is what I want to make. My brother and I come from Warcraft, he always played Elves and I always played Trolls. He's made a half-Elf and I want to make a Troll or half-Troll. However, when looking over a bunch of templates, many are incomplete or unbalanced according to their talk pages.

I want to make a character that will be a psychic warrior reaching a max height of 6'.

The backstory of my character is a bit incomplete, but he began out his life as being raised by Elves. So, are there any D&D players out there that would not mind creating a nice template for me?

Having only played Warcraft 2 and 3 a long time ago, and never played WoW, what are Warcraft trolls like? In D&D, trolls are large, violent, evil, and regenerate like nobody's business. Most of these characteristics do not mesh particularly well with PCs.

The way I see it, you have two options:

1) Pick an existing D&D race that has the features which best mimic a WoW troll; or
2) Design your own "troll" race.

If you give some details about trolls (or wait for more Warcraft-savvy Enworlders to show up), we could give you some better advice.

Especially in 4E, the idea is to pick a concept, then pick a race/class combo that fits into that concept. Traditionally, in D&D, trolls are big brutish, somewhat unintelligent creatures, nowhere near as cool as they are portrayed in WoW. Instead of being stuck specifically on "troll" you could look at why trolls are appealing to you. If it's just cosmetics, it's really easy to just tell everyone "I'm a troll," but had to pick a different actual race because it fit the mechanics of what you wanted the best.

The trolls in WC3 are a lot like the goblins or orcs of D&D. I would probably play them as one of those races, or a mod on one of those races.
Maybe throw in a regeneration while bloodied encounter power as a racial to replace whatever is there.
I think they would have bonuses to the following:
Dex - good with ranged attacks and throw weapons
Con - fast regeneration
Wis - shaman style spellcasters

So maybe +2 Dex or +2 Wis, +2 Con

You could just use the hobgoblin race. Say that their shamans are more like sorcerers...

Longtooth Shifter seems like an idea candidate for reskinning into a WoW-style Troll player race. Racial regeneration power and great potential for a ranger, druid or warden.
