Like the materials in the other artifiers description? Meaning I describing them, and having no access to them, being naked, but not rebuying them every time hitting a shop.

[sblock=Scotley:]
Get Ban Lu ready! There's the first post for you.
You'll need to equip him. You have 200 gold pieces to use in any equipment you wish. Just don't buy or change your Gun. You'll know why, eventually. Remember you can't buy any metallic armor or shields for now. For weapons, there are only the ones we have mentioned early, and bows and crossbows. When you finish him up, post him in the RG [/sblock]

[sblock=Voda]Just going to buy some leather armor, a crossbow and maybe some ritual supplies. I have to travel for work tomorrow, but I'll get him up as quick as I can. I got a post up and will try to get one in tomorrow if at all possible.[/sblock]

I didn't quite understood what you said, but I meant that you will start with certain amount of material and you must buy/collect/steal/craft more when you run out of them. I thought you could craft it like an alchemical compound.

Sorry I will try to be more understandable. From the DDI:

COMPONENTS
Your weapons, implements, and other gear are inscribed with runes and mystic patterns. You carry esoteric reagents and materials, along with tiny crafted objects that you use to create your artifices (see below). Eventually, you also pack a large number of magic items. If you don’t have what you need, you can transmute mundane materials into components. After an extended rest, you craft, imbue, or prepare the objects and compounds you need to use your powers for the day.

It is assumed that an artificer has enough 'raw' material with him for the adventure. I will surely roleplay picking up some ingridients and throwing the exploding bottle, but they have nor real gold value, unlike the materials needed in 'Rituals'.

Neccesary background notes
At the age of 23 years you are an imperial officer, a title that invest you with honor and glory, and one that you carry with pride. Although you tasks as such are not more noble than “Guard a door” or “Patrol the village” you still remember the greatness of the Capital city. It’s people, distinguished noble man, among them, your master in the martial arts, a disciple himself, of Lu Ian Sin, the Dancing sword. He was a severe man, but a good master. Through discipline you learned the ways of [your choised weapon] and step close to the path enlightenment.
But your way to greatness ended there, since then, you didn’t do anything greater than catch a chicken thief or stop a tavern fight. You were assigned with a group of your peers to the distant village of Iron Hill, a town built at the feet of the grey-picked Iron Mountains. The town itself was small and scattered, many of it’s inhabitants lived of husbandry and mining in the mountains. Your master once said “Where there is nothing to steal, there will be no crime, and people will live in the peace of the poor” A blunt statement for an imperial officer, but truth, nonetheless. This town was more peaceful than the seven heavens themselves.

You can equip yourself with armor and a weapon of your choice. You’ll have a symbol of the empire and papers that accredited you as an imperial officer. Additionally you’ll have 300 gp worth in the equipment you wish, with no restrictions (think of potions or something, a ranged weapon could prove useful). I would rather not see a shield wielding paladin (to western) but it’s up to you. [/sblock]

Helfdan and WD, get your characters ready, since you'll start as soon as you have them finished. I decided to make you play your own mini adventures before you all get together, just like Ban Lu and Koryo are doing.

Background:

My name is Ziang Yu. I'm a scientist in the years that most call 'The Times of the Four Nations'. My mainsource of knowledge are old scrolls, written by ancienct alchemist. By now, I have collected three recipes: 'Blazing Oil', 'Draught of Life' and 'Grappling Tar'.
I finance my exporations by working for fancy nobles, lords, secret societies, crime lords, and the list is quite long. The things you make range from weapons to 'stamina' pills.

Everything was good, as I earned enough money to continue my researches. But then I took a contract with a noble to make a chair that propels itself forward. The nobleman’s father was too old to walk, and his temper didn’t allow anyone to carry him in a wheel chair.
The ignorable cretins hurried my work and objected more tests. I was only mildly surprised that the test-run ended with the nobleman’s father joining his ancestors. I the end, I got my test-dummy...

In the accompanying smoke and confusion I made my way far from the reach of the noble's revenge.
That's how I ended here.

And what is your story?

Personality:
Proud and intelligent, shyness is not one of his flaws.
He is very inventive, but tends to repeat tactics, that sound 'good'.
("Perhaps it just was not enough blackpowder...")
In fights he prefers to use his arcane/alchemical formulas for ranged combat and to heal his companions.
