D&D's October Product Revealed to Be Stranger Things Tie-In

They were using a mixture of Basic and AD&D products on the show (and no doubt a load of house rules). Which is what we did at the time.

But they could assume these are updated versions of the of 1980s adventures, but keeping most of the original text.
The next level is that the Stranger Things characters are having a reunion D&D session and they've updated the old adventures themselves. :ROFLMAO:

Though I can't remember if this implies a bittersweet moment already or will in the future.

I mean, the fact both ST sets were supposedly written by characters from the show but are statted for 5E and not B/X is one in and of itself.
As Todd Kenerck pointed out, color battlemaps are also anachronistic, but probably a better experience for most customers.

Also, WotC is advertising this as Eddie's unfinished campaign, but the kids being there for the campaign finale vs. attending a big basketball game was a pretty big plot point in the show.

Which is all fine. This is a product about vibes, not trying to authentically recreate the 1980s, even less so than the TV show (which is generally pretty good, minus the dates that a few hit songs were released).

I imagine we'll see D&D in the final episode of the series, even if it's just putting a PHB on someone's coffin during a funeral or something.
