Michael rolls his eyes and guides his horse over next to Ironwolf's, speaking softly into his ear.
"Is there any information you want out of these people before you gag them? They'll be even less helpful then."
The pleasant thought drifts through his mind that Ironwolf might be talking about gagging Zaeryl.
No, we couldn't possibly be that lucky.

"So how far do you think your friends would have followed him, since they definetly didn't seem like wanting to let him go?", Almayce says end points at Zaeryl.

Almayce will wait fot the soldier to answer before talking again.

"And if you're that worried about us not believing you, I can cast a spell tomorrow that will prevent you from lying. After that I'd say we can think about releasing you if you manage to convince us that you and your friends aren't up to anything bad."

*That doesn't rule out that you just don't know though...*, Almayce thinks.

"If you're not going to say anything useful, then this might take a bit longer."

"Kneeler" looked at Almayce, then at Ironwolf, then at Almayce again. He seemed unsure of whether to speak.[sblock=Almayce]"That one wants me to answer him...but that one threatened to gag me...???"[/sblock]

The soldier paused again, emotions playing over his face. Finally, he spoke, clearly exasperated: "Anything bad? What do you consider bad? We're here on a mission of mercy, and you attack without showing your standard, and call me a prisoner of war? What--what are you on about? I don't know who you are or what you want, or whether I should tell you the truth, lie to you, or stand on my head! Ask me a question I can make some sense of, or I'll hold my tongue and you can hold yours!"[sblock=Almayce]Some of what you are picking up is non-verbal. It's not so much whether or not he thinks he'll be believed, as whether he thinks you're on the level. You can feel waves of frustration run over this man...one of his thoughts is "if my mates weren't here, I'd run myself on their blades just to have an end to it". That's hardly his dominant thought, and he's nowhere near to doing anything like that, but it should give a taste of his frustration and confusion.

He suspects that at least some of you are crazy, if not all of you.[/sblock]

"No, they're a complete waste of our time. They don't know anything usefull, and wouldn't tell us if they did."

He begins looking for a dirty sock in his pack.

"One thing is clear--whether they're invading or not, and whatever the grunt soldiers think, which is apparently not very much in general, they had orders to hunt down anyone in the nearby area, even someone who decided to leave and go back in the opposite direction rather than be sent to their internment camp."

"You want to bet on that? I think I can get them to talk to me."

"Well, we could try actually telling them. I'm not stopping you, at least.", Almayce says to Michael and shrugs.

"Though I expect your view to differ from mine, considering what you thought about our previous "encounters"."

"But you'll probably hear about it anyway.", he finishes while nodding slightly towards Zaeryl. "And I'd have to say that I agree with most of his last point, at least to a degree."

[sblock=Almayce]"Who in all the lower planes are these people? They seem to have no commander...lots of magic, though. I thought that one was infected...still might be...but he's damn weird whether he is or he isn't..."[/sblock]
