Ironwolf follows Michael in, though he has some trouble keeping up with the Cleric due to his heavy armor and falls a bit behind.

ooc: Singe move action, 20' movement. Ready an action to expand if the soldiers attack.

(OOC: It's a surprise round so you can't both move and ready an action. If I'm wrong, then Zaeryl has already readied an action to blast.)

ooc: True. I think Michael has the same problem, unless his domain power is a free action. However, I was thinking that the surprise round started when we walked into view... can we say that Ironwolf is in view of the soldiers with an action readied? That's what he's trying to accomplish.

(OOC: If so, then Zaeryl can be there too with his action readied. I think all of us need to wait on our spells/powers except Eternity, who isn't moving)

Also, Ironwolf (as a free action) will send a thought to his psicrystal.

They should react to our presence now. Wait until the pressure slackens, then if you can squirm free and run toward us, do it.

Michael advanced, greeted the soldiers, then began to cast a spell.

OoC: Because this is a surprise round, each PC gets only a standard action. Of course, a PC can choose to substitute a move action for a standard action, which is what the 3 PC's who are highest in the initiative order have chosen to do. Michael does not cast in the surprise round, and I'll be kind and let him change his stated action (casting Calm Emotions) in round 1 if he chooses to do so.

OoC: Yup, that's when the surprise round started. Now, practically the whole party could have readied an action had nobody advanced into view. I'm not responsible for your decisions...just the consequences of those decisions!

IC: Eternity hung back in the pines and used her Force Screen power, waiting to see what the others would do.

OoC: Yes, but in the future please confine your actions in surprise rounds to one standard action.

Rewind:
- Hulgyr approached to 10' of the soldiers, weapon ready, asking for a parley without making a threatening move.
- Zaeryl followed, positioning himself so that he can catch all three soldiers with a psionic blast should hostilities ensue.
- Michael lumbered down the slope a little behind the others, greeted the soldiers, then began casting a spell.
- Ironwolf stepped just forward of the thicker woods and made ready to expand, mentally advising his psicrystal on escape techniques while doing so.
- Eternity stayed back behind Ironwolf, and activated a force screen.
