D1: Ashin's Commission (El Jefe judging)

*Zaeryl is still ready to spray them with crystals, though he notes the incongruity from the shepherd's report that the soldiers are putting people from the area in internment camps and the soldiers' lack of an attempt to do so, at least yet.*

The soldier who had the butt of his spear on the ground, let's call him Private Stander, replied, "Well, that would be Captain Kellogg. But if you're going to Duvik, the Lieutenant would probably want to talk to you. Follow me." He started to walk up the path, in the direction that the party was headed, until he saw that his companions were giving him looks that questioned his sanity.

Michael raises a hand soothingly to Private Stander.
"I thank you for your help, brother, but I don't mean to take you from your duty and cause you trouble."
Michael looks at Private Squatter. "It's very kind of you three to help us this way, brother. Sela and I both thank you."

The soldier with the cloak in one hand and his spear in the other, let's call him Private Kneeler, paid more attention to Ironwolf. "Pet rock? You mean this thing is yours?" Then recovering quickly, he added, "Hey! You saw me pick it up! You're just trying to take it from me!" Perhaps he was used to losing in the camp card games.

"Brother, my friend here means to do nothing of the sort. On the White Pillar, I swear the thing is his. A very special blessing from Sela, I believe. In Her name, I beg you let the walking rock free."

Michael looks at Private Stander companionably. "It still sounds really odd to say that."

Ironwolf, I swear we need to talk about patience...

"No, no, you gotta come", Private Stander smiled at Michael. With a kindly gesture, he motioned for the group to follow him as he started walking up the path. "The Lieutenant gave orders. I'll take you to him!"

Private Kneeler looked at the cloak, then at Michael, then at the cloak, then at Michael. "Is that for real?", he asked.

Private Squatter seemed to understand that he was supposed to escort the group, and started moving in the opposition direction of Private Stander. He seemed to be a little relieved to be doing so.[sblock=Rystil Arden only, please]Private Stander is not making any sort of threatening motion, but he has announced his intention to escort you to the commander of a larger force, although not the commander of an even larger force back in Kinthriver. He is also starting to move out of the field of your Swarm of Crystals. I believe this triggers your readied action, although given the nature of the interaction between Michael and Private Stander, I think it only fair to give you an opportunity to modify that action. If not, the blast goes off and catches the three just as they start to move. Your call.[/sblock]

*Zaeryl thinks about pumping the soldiers full of crystals, but decides not to. He sighs. This had been a useful group. Too bad he would likely need to find another after they got stuck in an internment camp by the soldiers they were supposed to be defeating because the cleric wanted to 'play nice'. Rather than follow them to their lieutenant, he heads back to the trees in the opposite direction. If they try to stop him, they eat crystal.*

Eternity is unsure what to do. She knows that to be taken to see their leader would be a bad idea. But they have done nothing but their duty and do not deserve to be attacked and likely killed out of hand. In her indecision she stands motionless, not following the soldier, nor Zaeryl.

Although Hulgyr's emotions are all calm and mooshy, he is sill as impatient as ever and Micheal's sweet talking isn't going anywhere. At least in Hulgyr's eyes: "No, we no need to see your boss. We just came to get the rock back."

The Stonepike Mountains

Private Stander took a position on the path about 10 feet in front of Eternity, headed toward Duvik and whatever else lay on the path ahead. Clearly he expected to be followed. Private Squatter headed for the opposite end of the line, and drew even with Almayce, but on the opposite side of the path. Evidently he saw himself as the rear guard. Private Kneeler stayed rooted to his spot, and mumbled, "Maybe I should just hold on to this until we get back to camp", somewhat indecisively.

Round 3

- Hulgyr complained that he didn't want to see the tourist attraction.
- Zaeryl decided that he'd rather take the scenic route.
- Michael tried to change the tour itinerary with little success.
- Two of the soldiers got ready to take a little walk, and the third still couldn't figure out if he was being conned or not.

Ironwolf 8
Eternity 8
Almayce 1

Almayce has no intention of following the soldier, and stays where he is. He'll wait for somebody else to figure out something.

Ironwolf sends a thought to his psicrystal.

Tell Michael the following: If it's only the spell thats keeping these soldiers peacefull, following them to their camp is a horrible idea. Can you get them to give over the crystal? This could get very ugly very quickly!

ooc: That won't work, I forgot it requires a higher level than I have so far.

Ironwolf will stick by Alymace for the moment, watching to see what Michael does.

[sblock=Patlin]Uh, does Ironwolf's psicrystal have any powers of communication other than speech? I checked and couldn't find any. So, does Ironwolf want his psicrystal to talk out loud to Michael? We can do that, if you'd like. But I don't see how Ironwolf's psicrystal can communicate telepathically with Michael or anything like that.[/sblock]
