Michael attempts a Sense Motive check on Private Stander to see if this is a trap.

OoC: Duh, you'd already posted that, hadn't you? *DM shakes cobwebs out of brain*

IC: Michael tried to gauge what was really going on here. As far as he could tell, Private Stander had some kind of orders to bring some sort of people to his commander farther up the road to Duvik, and that he thought he was doing the party some sort of favor by doing so. At least he acted that way, and Michael saw no obvious deception on his part.

"Hey, you can't do that!", called Private Stander to Zaeryl. He turned around, leaving the path and passing Eternity as he doubled back. "If you're going to Duvik, you have to go through the camp, anyway. I'll show you to the Lieutenant." Seeing this, Private Squatter moved around Almayce at the far end of the line to chase after Zaeryl.

Private Squatter looked at Hulgyr crossly and replied, "No, I think I'll take this back to camp. If it belongs to one of you, you can get it back there." He jerked the hand holding the cloak back to his side and held his spear a little more upright, rather than letting the tip drift lazily to one side.

OoC: Eternity may take an AoO on Private Stander and Almayce may take an AoO on Private Squatter, should they so desire. Neither has caught up to Zaeryl, although they have drawn up almost even with him. Private Stander is maybe 15' Duvikward of Zaeryl and Private Squatter is about 10' Kinthriverward.

Round 4

- Hulgyr stepped onto the path by Private Kneeler and demanded that he hand over the rock.
- Zaeryl started to bravely turn his tail and flee.
- Michael decided that one of the soldiers wasn't such a bad guy after all.
- Two of the soldiers ran after Zaeryl to try and talk him out of it.
- One soldier stayed behind and decided he didn't like being told what to do.

Almayce can't make AoO's without a weapon in hand, and he's under the Calm Emotions spell anyway, so he'll just wait for now.
 

Ironwolf frowns.

"I think I'd have to look at that as theft of my property, neighbor. That'd be distressing. Why don't you let it out of the bag, and it can tell you plain as plain who it belongs to. I'll even give you 5 gold to hold as security. You can return the gold once you're convinced the psicrystal is mine. Much less distressing for both of us, yes?"

Ironwolf is still ready to expand. If his psicrystal is close enough when he does, he'll use the share powers ability to allow it to grow, too.
 

*Zaeryl stares at the soldiers grimly.*

'Their insistence in the face of mind-affecting magic proves your malevolent intent.'

"You will not place me in your internment camp as you have to so many innocents. Step away if you would prefer to live this day, villains."

(OOC: If they keep their distance, they don't die. If they are about come within AoO range, he'll blast them, and of course, he'll back up more next time when he gets the chance--splitting the three up will be useful if a fight is necessary, and drawing them this way means that it is less likely any will escape to inform their commanders)

- Michael decided that one of the soldiers wasn't such a bad guy after all.
- Two of the soldiers ran after Zaeryl to try and talk him out of it.
- One soldier stayed behind and decided he didn't like being told what to do.
- Ironwolf called one of the soldiers a thief, then offered to buy his own property back.
- Eternity and Almayce decided to just wait until things settled down a bit.

If Michael has been able to concentrate on his ability and talk, the ability is still active.
