D1: Ashin's Commission (El Jefe judging)

ooc: if the soldier Eternity is next too is not the one that Michael tends too, she will use a heal check to try and stabilize the one next to her.

Michael grabs his kit and bolts for the horses, saving his breath for running.

55 Hail Sela's Grace, 54 Hail Sela's Grace, 53 Hail Sela's Grace...

Edit: added listen check
Michael's Listen check (1d20+3=18)

Can't believe they haven't heard that yet, but all it takes is one person scraping the wax out of their ears...

The Stonepike Mountains

Round 7[sblock=Michael, Hulgyr, Zaeryl, Eternity, Almayce: ]- Michael shouted instructions and ran for the woods.
- Michael decided to see if he could fix the one soldier's boo-boos.
- Hulgyr grabbed the soldier's cloak (and Ironwolf's rock), and ran for the woods.
- Zaeryl tried to play another mean trick on the soldier, but it didn't work this time.
- The soldier didn't like playing with Zaeryl and went crying for his Mommy.
- Zaeryl tried to stop him but he ran very fast.
- Eternity decided to see how bad the one soldier got burned.

Almayce caught a glimpse of the fleeing soldier as he ran between the trees, loaded his crossbow, aimed, and let loose a bolt. Truly, it was perhaps the most astounding feat of marksmanship of Almayce's life as the bolt threaded its way between several tree branches to strike the fleeing man, 30 yards away if it was an inch.

The man seemed to stumble as he ran. Had Almayce's bolt managed to penetrate the man's armor? Given the light leather that the guards had been wearing, it seemed likely. Yet, he continued to run through the woods, bending his course so that he now ran a little toward the path instead of away from it.

- Almayce shot a soldier with one of his toys.

Map unchanged (Squatter still far off the top edge).[/sblock][sblock=Ironwolf: ]- Michael shouted instructions and ran for the woods.
- Hulgyr grabbed the soldier's cloak (and Ironwolf's rock), and ran for the woods.
- Someone ran away yelling for their Mommy

OoC: Situation unchanged from Ironwolf's perspective.[/sblock]Round 8[sblock=Michael, Hulgyr, Zaeryl, Eternity, Almayce: ]Michael easily stabilized "Corporal" Stander, who, although hurt, was very much alive. (OoC: -3 HP) [sblock=Michael only][sblock=DC15 Listen Check]Michael can still make out the sound of a village or camp in the direction of Duvik, although it's hard to make out over Private Squatter's yelling.[sblock=DC20 Listen Check]It seems the sound of the village has changed and that there's some sort of general alarm being raised.[/sblock][/sblock][/sblock]- Michael helped one of the soldiers who was hurt

Hulgyr joined his fellows in the forest, and glanced impassively at the fleeing soldier who was well out of charge range. "What do we do now?", he asked. He wondered if he should just let Ironwolf's psicrystal go, or hold onto it for safekeeping.

- Hulgyr realized that all his playmates either took a nap or ran away.

Pretty much everyone could hear someone or something large crashing through the forest behind them and in the direction of Duvik. Pretty much everyone assumed it was Ironwolf.

Zaeryl observed that Private Squatter had comfortably fled out of range for another blast of crystal shards. It was now time to deal with other matters.

Zaeryl 8
Eternity 8
Almayce 1[/sblock][sblock=Ironwolf: ]The fleeing solider was easy to follow as he left a sonic trail audible for, well, at least a quarter of a mile. Ironwolf crashed through the forest in his giant form. However, he soon realized after parting the trees for perhaps 20 yards, that the Fallonite was sprinting away heedless of the danger of colliding with a tree, and was rapidly outdistancing him.

OoC: Double move, and you're still farther away than when you started.[/sblock]Zaeryl 8
Eternity 8
Almayce 1

OoC, for ajanders: No, you're good. Michael will move as you described on round 9, unless you change your mind. He can't move on round 8, since he burned a move action to reach Corporal Stander and a standard action to patch him up.

(OOC: Okay, since he didn't move in a straight line, the guard clearly had to double move and not sprint. That's fine--Zaeryl will move closer to him and blast him with another Crystal Shard. Since he moved past Zaeryl last round, it is impossible for him to be out of CS range after another move action. Let me know if I am wrong about this)

OoC: Yup, you're wrong about this. He sprinted in one direction during Round 7, then turned just a bit and sprinted in a slightly different direction during Round 8. I realize the text I used implied that he changed directions in the middle of Round 7, that is not true.

OoC:
Round 7:
1. Zaeryl attacks soldier, misses.
2. Soldier moves.
Round 8:
1. Declared action for Zaeryl is chase soldier and blast. Blasting is a standard action, leaving only a move action. If Zaeryl moves at maximum speed for one move action, Zaeryl will not be in range to blast at the end of his initiative on Round 8. Exact declaration is, "Let me know because otherwise, he has to deal with..." So, I'm interpreting the situation as otherwise. Zaeryl cannot possibly reach soldier on Round 8, so I'm giving you a chance to declare some other action for Zaeryl on Round 8.
2. Soldier's initiative on Round 8. Since Zaeryl cannot affect him, soldier will run on Round 8, "no saving throw allowed", although technically we're still waiting for Zaeryl and the soldier has not moved yet. But he will.

So, soldier has not moved twice before Zaeryl can act, and wont. But he will move twice.
