D1: Ashin's Commission (El Jefe judging)

As far as the voting: i'm fine any way. If i was in a powergaming mood it say "We got all three!" cause that is best for the party. If i was IC i'd say "We forgot the last one" simple since hulgyr isn't the sharpest tool in the shed and could easily forgot the last one. Speaking Ooc i'm in the middle: the posting was confusing but so where the circumstances our PC's where in. Either way would be fine with me.. the guys(that'll be our characters) will find a way out of this mess one way or the other. Hulgyr has been dying to test out his compisite longbow and some pursuers seem to be easy tagets in these open lands. Just hope he has enough arrows.

Ok, that's three for "we got all three" and two "either way is fine with me". Unless B4cchus weighs in with a strong, "we only have two and I'm uncomfortable with three", I think that's a consensus.

My only other question before we resume, is which character picked up Private Stander? I'm pretty sure it wasn't Michael, Hulgyr, or Ironwolf...

I would say you're right.
How about Zaeryl?

Zaeryl had a guy--Eternity and Almayce both had some time when they didn't do anything (there was a round Eternity stood by to make a Heal check when Michael had already used an orison) that could have been used to pick him up.

That said, if that doesn't work, Zaeryl could have certainly grabbed the guy on the way out.

True for Eternity, not true for Almayce - he fired his crossbow (standard action) one round, and double-moved toward his horse the very next. It's also complicated by the fact that Almayce was never adjacent to Private Stander, through all 13 or so rounds of the encounter!

If E13 is OK with Eternity picking up the soldier, I'm fine with that. It seems a little weird to me for it to be Zaeryl, since he had one soldier, then gave him up to Hulgyr.

Erekose13, are you alright with this? I think that would have put Eternity further back in the "marching order" during the flight from the canyon, but that really should have no effect on the outcome (you all reached the other side of the valley safely).

OOC: Ok, I think that means were're all back at post 909, but with soldiers on the backs of Hulgyr's, Ironwolf's, and Eternity's horses. Ironwolf has suggested a plan of action that involves moving south along the ridgeline, then east across the valley to a point south of the canyon that leads to Duvik. Michael seems to be implementing that plan, and Ironwolf, Hulgyr, Eternity and Almayce seem to be following it. I haven't got a firm response from Zaeryl as to whether he is following or not. Game on!

Following Ironwolf's plan, the party rode along the ridge toward Kinthriver for a mile or two, then carefully poked their heads above the ridge for a look. Nobody saw any activity in the valley, although a careful enemy could have easily hidden an entire troop in the valley, had they taken care to hide. Cautiously, Michael and the others picked their way back down to the valley floor, across the road that they had traveled earlier in the day, and back up the far side. Upon reaching the top, they found themselves on a broad shelf of land, the canyon they had followed Ironwolf's psicrystal up to their left, and mountains looming ahead.

Eternity sensed movement behind her on Kailie, and turned to find Private Stander meeting her gaze from across the back of her horse. In a short second, an unspoken bond was forged...one admitting that he needed rest before attempting an escape, the other agreeing to not injure the first unless he did so.

(OOC: Stander was the one who took lethal damage from Eternity's fire ray, right? Just checking. I figured if anyone would wake up, it would be the fellow who took nonlethal from the grapples)

OoC: Yes, that's Stander. And due to D20's odd recovery rules, most characters who were near death from lethal damage will recover consciousness more quickly than characters who take non-lethal damage.
