D2: Lost Manor (nimisgod judging)

Ridik doesn't care much for his surrounding while he speak with his friends.

"Thanks for you help, and I think the best would be to use your last spell on our friend here." he points at ao'Thuir. "As we might need his strength again today, and he has taken more than his share of wounds too, even if he will not tell it. And tell us how much your services will cost us, I wouldn't want to take advantage of you or your church, I think we owe you the gold for the trouble we have caused you. And thank you to take care of those two body who hasn,t found rest, hope there souls are already in the gods hands."

"Thank you Captain. We didn't meant to cause any trouble, and it is always fine to see the zeal of the guards of Orussus and there wisdom too. I am happy to see some guard that doesn't arrest first and ask questions later just because I am a goblin. If I were a grean goblin, maybe, but mountain goblin have learn that being peacefull is better for our health and knowledge."

[SBLOCK=OOC]I see nothing, not sense nothing in the captain (or the cleric?) voice, as these rolls show it.[/SBLOCK]

Without waiting for a responce, the cleric turns and heads off into the last room. He wonders over to the end of the room and crouches down beside the piles of bones and scattered equipment.
[sblock=Spot 15]The Cleric make a small gesture. Perhaps a blessing for the dead. But there is a slightly furtive feel to the way he does it. He reaches out and touches a couple of the items.[/sblock]

Richard does a double take as he glances in at the cleric.

Feeling sure there is something going on here, Richard listens closely to the conversations.

"Right then," announces the Corporal. "Master Meijier, the wounded are out of danger. I think you need to decide what you want to do. If you decide to abandon your plans, then I suggest some compensation is in order. They have taken some pains to help you out it would seem. 10 gold pieces each sounds fair. They have, after all, cleared your attic."

The guard called Hiitar draws the corporal aside and whispers something to the Corporal. The Corporal glances through to the back room. He frowns.

"Master Cleric. If you could join us. I think we have taken enough of your time."
[sblock=Sense Motive 15]There is a touch of urgence in the Corporal's voice, as if he would rather the cleric is out of the back room.[/sblock]

ooc:sense motive=20!
Gesturing to the more charismatic members of the group, the fighter tries to gather the group without seeming too urgent. "Hey guys, I have a question that requires a bit of privacy... um, huddle up?"

ooc: holy crud, if only I can get rolls like that in Combat *chuckles*. Suffice it to say that Richard is now grumpy over not being treated well by a greedy overbearing woman . . . who might comprimise his paycheck - and the adventure! On top of all that he now is positive there is something being hidden by the guards and/or cleric! He will try to convey his suspicions, based upon whatever it is that his Spot and Sense Motive tells him (according to doghead) quietly, with the group gathered close enough to hear but not be overheard, if that means moving away from the others, that is what he will do. An occassional rumble from his gut will remind everyone that supper time is calling... literally!

Lucien watches the cleric head to the back room, then pays him no more attention as he listens to the corporal discuss matters with Ignatious and Heather with increasing interest.

--- THE THIRD FLOOR ---

Ignatious looks over to Rinya, taking the offered pin.

"Erm, no, I don't think so," he says slowly after considering the face from several angles. "Its not Grandmama," he adds, more positively. "You say you found it here?"

The Cleric of Hyrag looks over to ao'Thuir.

"Yes, of course," He replys to Ridik. "And you owe me nothing more for the last spell. Your donation to the temple was more than enough for the aid given tonight."

The cleric quickly once more summons the divine grace of Hyrag to heal the barbarian's wounds {10 hp recovered}. A small smile crosses his otherwise sour features as he sees the effectiveness of his efforts.

"Indeed," the cleric continues in response to Ridik, "It is often forgotten that the undead were once living things, and their remainns have been sorely abused. As much as Hyrag hates those that create them, we do our best to remember that the remains deserve respect."

"My squad can take the remains to the temple of Hyrag," announces the Corporal loudly. "We are done here it would seem. It will be no bother. With your permission Mistress Meijier."

"Indeed, it is on our way, more or less," adds Hiitar.

The cleric butts in before either of the Meijier can respond.

"No. No. I don't think so," he responds a tad tartly. "I mean, the forces that animate the abominations in the other room are dangerous and insidious. I really don't want anyone getting hurt." the cleric continues in a more moderate tone. "With your permission Master Meijier, I will have some people from my temple come and collect the bones. And old equipment, just to be on the safe side. The evil that created those things can taint even mundane items, leaching into the metal and bone."

"My squad, I'm sure will be safe enough. I'm sure of that," snorts the Corporal with a dark look at the cleric.

Apologies if I overlook a comment or question. Sometimes I miss things in the general to and fro of the game. A little nudge like Heckler's should do the trick.

"Oh uh thanks." ao'Thuir says to the cleric of Hyrag. "Those skeletons took quite a few deep chunks out of me, feeling much better now."

The elf looks a little puzzled by the cleric's statement that the evil can leak into items, never seen that happen. He shrugs fully intending to hide anything Ridik says is magical once the cleric is gone.

"Yes. In a pouch, hanging on the wall just inside the door. My guess is that she used it to see by when she went in the room, rather than a candle. Even if it's not an heirloom, you could sell it for a fair bit of coin, I would guess. Not as much as you could get for the skeletons' equipment, of course, some of it seemed rather nice. I would imagine it's some of your grandmama's old adventuring gear."

Lucien Rayes, undead expert

Lucien steps forward as the corporal tries to push the issue of the remains. "With all due respect sir, I've battled things like those before. They are best left to those that truly understand their nature." He turns to the cleric. "I am willing to offer my services to you in collecting and transporting the remains to your church, sir."

Heather gives Rinya a sharp look, then glances towards the back room. But before she can say anything, Ignatious speaks up.

Ignatious gives Rinya a distracted smile. "I don't recognise it. Why don't you keep it? I'm sure Grandmama would be pleased for you to have it."

The Corporal glowers at Lucian, a 'you don't know what you are doing' look, and shakes his head slightly.

The cleric of Hyrag smiles a tight smile. "Thank you young man. It glad to see someone listening to reason." The cleric turns to Ignatious.

"Master Meijier. I really should be getting back to the Temple. With your permission, I take the remains and gear back to the Temple. I'm sure the Guard will be happy enough to help given that it is on their way." Another tight smile.

[sblock=Lucian]Rinya's comment about the pin being part of Grandmama's adventuring gear rings a bell for Lucian. He doesn't recall the pin specifically, but the gear used by the skeletons, it suddenly occurs to Lucian, is quite similar to that mentioned as used by Grandmama in her journal. From the sound of it Grandmama was an adventurer of some ability.[/sblock]

"It's good for the remains, but we would like to inspect the equipement before. It might help us on the investigation. I am full aware of the danger that might be over, and I will proceed with caution. Even if my mistress, Russna, is not as familiar as Hyrag with undead, she hold many knowledge and it won't be the first time I'll have to handle myself with undead. Also, my field of study is all that is related with arcana, and skeleton like these are not free willed undead but reamins animated by some arcane or divine powers. Once the investigation will be done, we will send it back to you... Except if Heather and Ignatious prefer to see them send to you, but I think anything that could help the investigation shouldn't be put aside for now, and these have been there for years now, I think it can stay here a day or two more." tells Ridik, remembering that he had detected a magical aura in the room and not wanting to make sure from where was coming these aura.
