D2: Lost Manor (nimisgod judging)

--- The Scribe's House ---

The cleric tuts as he inspects the wounds, an oddly old man'ish mannerism for one so young. But he works quickly and surely. Finishing his inspection, he closes his eyes and utters a short prayer before he casts his first spell over Gardner. He pauses for a moment as Gardner's wounds knit and Gardner regains consciousness. Then he repeats the performance with Rinya.

"There. I am done. Both are out of danger, although neither are fully recovered. The young man remains the more seriously wounded. I have one more healing spell remaining. Who would you like me to attend to?"

Richard - big hungry guy

Richard smiles for the first time he's been in this strange house. "Welcome back you two!"

"...Who would you like me to attend to?"

Richard answers the healers question by looking to Ridik... 'not my department' is written all over the young man's face. He does however pay close attention to who will pay for the services.

"A moment..." replies Ridik to the cleric. He walk to Heather and Ignatious. "Now, I know that's decision is meant to be taken by both of you, but it seems that Ignatious have implicated us in this without having talk to you, miss. We have two of our friends who almost get killed just while inspecting a room in your house.

Before talking of what will happen next (if something happen next), I would like to know what Ignatious was expecting to happen once he got the mansion. You told he might be thinking of trying to become a member of the gentry. it is not something bad to think like that, but it's true it is hard. But have you think there might be many other things to do with it. With what we have found, the mansion is most likely be on a land that have darkwood. That kind of wood is precious and you could sell it to a high price. You could simply sell the lands and the mansion to someone for a good price that would not only allow your son to do his study where he wants, but also secure your futur and have no more thought about gold.

Ok, you'll tell me that you don't have the money to pay us... I might have a proposition. I havn't yet talk about it to my companions, but while you think about it, we will think about it too. It is not unusual to work for a percentage instead of a fix amount of mioney. So, if we found your manor and allow you to have an evaluation of the mansion and his land, you'll be able to sell it for the right price, and we would get a percentage of the transaction. If we found nothing... well, we have nothing. It is sure, that percentage have a good chance to be more than the original price, but with the risk we have taken today, and the risk of having nothing to the end, I think it is fair, and the percentage is still to be determine. Think about it, I'll see what my companions think about it." Ridik nods and returns to his companion.

"You all heard?"

He then look at the cleric. "You last spell will be used depending on this decision. It shouldn't be long. Thanks for your time. May Hyrag's shine on you and Russna reveal you secrets."

Gardner sits up and blinks hard. Looking over at the recently healed barbarian woman he says, "Sorry I couldn't hold my own in the fight, Rinya. Swordplay isn't really my specialty".

The sharp-eyed young investigator looks around and asks Richard, " Where's Hedron? He survived the mannequin's, right?

The young man gives a weak smile and says, "It's been a tough day, hopefully we'll get the chance to find this mansion." He says the last statement with a nod towards Ridik and the couple he is talking to.

"Welcome back Gardner, glad to see that we were able to get you out. Those mannequins were skeletons and we were just able to defeat them in time. Hedron? I haven't seen him actually. I think the last time I saw him was just after we had rescued you and Rinya and defeated the skeletons. Adventuring isn't for everyone I guess." replies ao'Thuir standing over Gardner and Rinya. He lets Ridik do the talking.

Rinya slowly stands and stretches, "Thank you, everyone. It's good to be back. I feel like I've been laying on that floor for weeks. If there's more healing, Gardner can have it. This isn't as bad as...I mean...I've been worse off. Too bad about Hedron, I was starting to like him."

Rinya gives the "new" people a curious look before crossing to Ignatious. "This is only a minor setback, I assure you. I've shed blood for this manor of yours, I won't fail you." She then removes the glowing pin from her dress and hands it to him. "We found this in a pouch inside the room. It makes for a very nice little light source. There is also a woman's face on it. Do you know her?"

Listening to Ridik, Richard looks slowly at each of the group, there is a tight expression on his face, as though he has bitten into something sour.
Richard nods as ao'Thuir answers Gardners question. "Hedron said he'd had enough of this adventuring business and though he never stated it clearly, we've assumed he's decided to quit."
Listening to Rinya's statements Richard smiles, he opens his mouth as if to add a thought, then closes it and leans back against a doorframe and watches as Gardner gets patched up some more.

"So does anyone here know some first aid? I think I need to learn how to patch you guys up if your gonna keep getting near killed like that!" His smile is still colored by that tightness, but his eyes do show some mirth.

Lucien Rayes, impatient half-elf

Lucien nods at Richard. "I have some small skill at first aid, my friend. It is not much, but hopefully I can prevent one from bleeding to death."

The half-elf listens to Ridik, as well as the other as they are revived. "I believe we have enough information to begin a proper investigation, is that correct? If recompense is the issue here, I have no problem with working for a percentage rather than a flat fee."

"Everyone agree that a percentage is a good thing? If we continue the six of us, i think it will be a good thing. I think we can learn from our mistake and now we know that when it is time to mess with grandma's things, we need to be all together. That grandma was very overprotective... I am not even sure it define quite well her obsession to protect that chest. I still wonder what is in that chest. We should take a look as soon as we are all ok... we could use the last spell to heal someone volonteer to check the chest... Before, all we need to know, it is if Heather and Ignatious are willing to go through that. If they aren't there is no point for us to continue..."

--- The Third Floor ---

Heather watches Ridik cautiously as the goblin approachs. However, as he speaks, she begins to lean forwards a little, especially as he begins to outline the possible profit in the venture.

The Cleric of Hyrag rolls his eyes as Ridik asks him to wait a moment before casting the last spell.

"Well please make your decision quickly. I do have other duties to attend to. I'll have a look at those skeletons then, while you sort things out, shall I?"

Without waiting for a responce, the cleric turns and heads off into the last room. He wonders over to the end of the room and crouches down beside the piles of bones and scattered equipment.

[sblock=Spot 15]The Cleric make a small gesture. Perhaps a blessing for the dead. But there is a slightly furtive feel to the way he does it. He reaches out and touches a couple of the items.[/sblock]

"Right then," announces the Corporal. "Master Meijier, the wounded are out of danger. I think you need to decide what you want to do. If you decide to abandon your plans, then I suggest some compensation is in order. They have taken some pains to help you out it would seem. 10 gold pieces each sounds fair. They have, after all, cleared your attic."

The guard called Hiitar draws the corporal aside and whispers something to the Corporal. The Corporal glances through to the back room. He frowns.

"Master Cleric. If you could join us. I think we have taken enough of your time."

[sblock=Sense Motive 15]There is a touch of urgence in the Corporal's voice, as if he would rather the cleric is out of the back room.[/sblock]

The Cleric 'Um's' and 'Ar's' a moment before emerging.

Corporal," Heather pipes up. "Thank you for your help. Sorry to have called you out for nothing. I think I shall think things over and decide in the morning."

"Master Meijier," the cleric says to Ignatious. "Those things in the back room are indeed unnatural abominations, the kind which the Hyrag is dedicated to ridding the world of. You are fortunate to have come to no harm, the evil that animates them is most incidious. However the Temple will ensure they laid properly to rest, never to walk the earth again. With your permission, I will have some priests from the temple to come and collect the remains."
