D2: Lost Manor (nimisgod judging)

--- The Third Floor ---

As ao'Thiur turns to head off, two men emerge from the top of the stairs. They are dressed in the livery of the Orussus city watch. They are lead by a stout looking middle aged man wearing the insignia of a corporal. He carries a lantern in one hand. The man behind him carries a halberd, awkwardly maneuvouring it through the narrow space of the stairs. He glances around the room. A woman appears, bringing up the rear. She carries a staff.

"City Watch, Sir. Ma'me." The corporal scans the room, and the bed chamber beyond, taking in the adventurers. "Everyone just relax. And keep your hands were they can be seen."

He takes a moment to give everything a closer look. From the back the woman speaks up. "Corporal, is that blood on the small one?" The corporal glances over at Ridik.

"Now what in the name of Sela is going on here?" His voice is easy and calm. But his eyes are hard. The Corporal looks like he has been around the block a few times.

Ridik, Richard and ao'Thiur are in the reading room (the first room) with Ignatious and Heather. Lucian is in the bed chamber with Gardner and Rinya. Gardner and Rinya are probably not visible to the corporal at this point.

"Hi Corporal... I've never met you befroe I think. Blood, I don't bleed, I'm not wounded... oh you mean that blood, well, you see, it is... Ignatious, I think it would be better if you explain." asks Ridik to his companion, knowing that his goblin heritage have a tendency not to help him in such situation, and he want not to put anyone else in trouble.

The corporal considers Ridik for a moment, then turns to Ignatious.

"Sir? Is this your house? Are these people bothering you?"

Ignatious shakes his head. "Um er, no Corporal. Um they are not um, ... thats not our blood. I asked them to come here to ... well, help me with something. And, um ... "

"And now we would like them to leave," interrupts Heather loudly. "Ignatious has no more need of them for tonight. Isn't that right Ignatious ..."

"Er well ... "

"Good," Heather responds promptly. "So Corporal, if you could escort them out, it would be much appriciated. We don't want to press charges or anything?"

"Ok... there must be a misundertanding. Let me explain. My name is Ridik Keita, I'm a follower of Russna. I'm studying on the fabric of the magic. I've decided to adventure so I can more easily fall on strange and untold magic. And you know, one good place for adventurer, it is the Red Dragon Inn. And it was a wise choice as I've investigated the curse that had fallen on the house Thimbrall and broke it. Sadly, I didn't had much time to study it, but that's another story. The story that interest you is the one of Ignatious. You see, his grandmother died some time ago... may Hyrag watch over her soul... and ours too... because grandma was the kind of people overprotective of her things. That's why I have blood on my hand presently, but I'll come to that soon. So Ignatious came to the Red Dragon Inn to asks for help, as he has inherited a mansion but didn't know where to find it. He also had recieved a letter from a man who had interest on the mansion. He recruit us to help him.

Part of our group found information at the library, but on our way back, we found some goon that told us to stay away from that affair. There leader had a hat, and Rinya didn't like to get insulted by him. He might end eating his hat... I'm losing myself. I think the man who want the mansion will do anything to have it. But as we have no proof of that, it will stay suspicion.

During that time, the other part of our group stayed here and try to find more information in grandma's bedroom. But grandma is really very protective of her things. She had put some harmless traps here and there, but she also put deadly traps in the sceret room next of her bedroom. And when I say deadly, I have two companions that are presently unconscious and need healing. And I have drained out all my gift from Russna already. So, we got burned and we got attacked by two mannequin... well, they weren't mannequin but sqelleton. It is them who almost killed our firend. I had to pull them out of that situation, that's why I have some blood on my hands, it is beacause I help my friends in need. And now we think the information we were searching is in a chest in the secret room but it might be trap and no one here is in condition to even try to see.

So I would like to first go and fetch a cleric of Hyrag that would be able to heal our fallen friends. Then, if miss Heather doesn't want us anymore, we will leave, but I think after all the things we have done here, we should at least have some respect. i must tell at first sight, it does't look liek that, but we have removed most of the deadly traps in this house, and if it was someone else who would had triggered them, they could have get seriously injured or even killed... well, that's it... hey, i didn't even wandered off teh subject that much... I impress myself." adds Ridik with a smile.

He suddenly think if it was a good idea to tell everything like that and wait with anxiety the reaction of the Corporal or Heater.

ao'Thuir remains silent, letting Ridik do the talking, and talk he does. With Rinya and Gardener both stabilized for the moment, he does not press the issue and try to move past the guards. At least not yet.

OOC: Richard will relax his posture, going so far as to lean a bit on the wall, arms crossed. His shield is still on the floor after dragging Rinya out of the room. His weapons are all in sheath/hanging on thong. He will make no provoking moves but he will continue to monitor Ignatious from time to time.

When Heather starts in on the group Richard will let out an exasperated sigh.

"Can any of you help heal our friends at least?" Richard's impatience with this fiasco is plain in his manner, though he remains physically passive.

The corporal's eyes begin to glaze over as Ridik launches into his oration.

"Enough!" he says, interrupting the cleric of Russna mid-flow. He follows up with a series of short questions that elicts the basic facts.

"Right then. Two of you go with Hoffner to the temple of Hyrag. And make sure you have enough money. The cleric of Hyrag are unlikely to treat you as deserving of charity.

"And Hoffner, tell them that there may have been some walking dead here."

One of the guards nods and heads towards the stairs, pausing only long enough to see who is following.

"Mensari, go and check on the wounded. Hiitar, have a look at the back room. And be careful."

The two other gurads head through to the other room.

"So, we have Ridik here," says the Corporal. "Why don't you tell me who the rest of you are. Including the wounded." After getting the adventurer's details, he gives Lucian and Ridik a stern look before heading over to Heather and Ignatious. He gets their names and confirms a few details. Mensari returns and informs the corporal that the wounded are stable. The corporal turns back to Ignatious and Heather.

Meanwhile, Heather continues quietly working on Ignatioius to abandon his hair-brained scheme to join the gentry. She seems to be making headway.

I'm assuming that ao'Thiur and Richard are heading to the temple. They seemed to be the ones who were about to. Let me know if you want to play it differently. Lucian and Ridik are now both in the reading chamber (the first room at the top of the stairs). Gardner and Rinya are in the bed chamber.

Note: I'm going to be away for about five days, starting tomorrow night.

Lucien Rayes, half-elf bystander

Lucien quietly watches the guardsmen go about their business. He nudges his diminutive companion, "Looks like we won't be spending the night behind bars after all."

Ridik nods. "It is one of the most confortable prison I have visited... but it's still a prison and I would rather not see it again. I hate those 'misunderstanding' because I am a goblin, but it won,t stop tonight." The goblin pause and look at Heather and Ignatious. "I think we might not see the end of that story either. Heather seems to hold influence on Ignatious. I must tell after what we have seen about grandma, I would not blame him to not want to see that manor, but I don't like to see it fall in teh hand of that man who send us his goon to intimidate us."

"I just hope a decision is made soon, one way or another. This lack of direction is...unsettling. I am starting to feel trapped." Lucien sidles over and tries to listen in on Heather and Ignatious' conversation.
