D20 Future + Sidewinder: Recoiled=Firefly?

Would anyone with access to both care to speculate on how they would mesh into a Firefly game?

They are both D20 Modern-based, would it work well? Would Sidewinder add anything to the mix?

i have both d20 Future and Sidewinder: Recoiled, but i don't know what Firefly is. :\

most of the new feats in S:R are specific to the types of guns present in the Old West and not really appropriate to a sci fi setting.

at least some the advanced classes might work, but some might need some jiggering with class features to adapt them to a sci fi setting (they might not make sense outside of their standard milieu).

Firefly was a short lived 'space western' (reminded me of my old traveller campaign) written by Joss Whedon. Thanks to the success of the DVD sales there is a movie in production. See http://www.fireflyfans.net/ for me info.

Me, too. Why not just use T20 instead of trying to integrate d20M & S:R.

In a nutshell? T20 is based upon D&D and not d20 modern. I looked through t20 and would rather just use the original 2d6 system. If they had based T20 on d20 modern I would have been more impressed.

T20 is D&D based mostly because it predates D20 modern. Maybe I'll take that up with QLI once I get D20 future...

I've never seen Firefly...I know, shame on me...but I've always liked elements of the Wild West in any genre I've run or played in. I'd be interested to hear what people think about this.

Actually thats perfect for Firefly....its Old West...only in the desolate fringes of space :P

Unlike Geoff, I have seen Firefly. I actually picked up the DVD of the full series and just finished watching up thru disc 2. And I'm still reading the d20 Future. I'll get back to ya'll on my thoughts on how the S:R and Future integrate. So far my instincts tell me it's more a matter of choosing which elements of Future to include rather than what elements of S:R to exclude.

As to the weapons, the funny thing about the Firefly universe is that the majority of the guns are revolver's and lever-action rifles. Weapons that are definatly *not* covered by d20 Future, but most assuredly *are* covered by S:R.

But we will still have to come up with a "soiled dove/registered companion" class, since neither book addresses the "profession". ;)
