What are you thoughts on D20 future?

Personally I thought it was a very disappointing. However, I didn’t have very high hopes for it since it used the D20 modern core book.

any system that is easier than Rifts is ok in my book. I don't care much for the artwork. I think any system is what you make of it. If there is a rule you don't like change it. If there is a setting you don't like don't use it. Demension X looks interesting.

It tried to cover too much in toio short a book. It has some neat ideas and campaign options but each othen easily needed to be theri own book. For a DM that wants a starting point and then wants to do work himself it is good. But it isn't worth while for people that don't have that kinda of time and motivation. I'd personally just get a game that fit what I wanted instead of trying to use d20 Future.

I agree with this to an extent. I think it works well as a toolbox. Dispensing with the campaign option material and adding more stuff that's generally useful would have been nice. I agree that the campaigh options should be handles in books of their own - but not in as huge a book as Urban Arcana. Make them be about as big as GURPS sourcebooks, or the old Amazing Engine sourcebooks, which at least one of the campaign options (Bughunters) was derived from.

I agreeeee

I agree, I modify my D&D game allot. But D20 future needs a hell of a lot of modifying before I would even consider using it to run any of my sci-fi games. The first problem is it uses the D20 modern core book…don’t get me started on D20 modern.

If it wasn't based on D20 Modern, what would you base D20 Future on?

I think d20 Future has some neat ideas and agree with ColonelHardisson that it works well as a toolbox. The GM has to make his own setting from the bits that are offered in the book, but I still think it does a pretty good job in the game mechanics department.
