d20 Modern Dark*Matter hardcover from WotC?!?

At this point, I think it's pretty clear that the d20 Dark•Matter book was being worked on. But given what's going on with spectaculars, and seeing as it's apparently been removed from the product catalog, the question is "Will it ever come out?"

And "Drunk Southern Women with Guns" was a Dark•Matter story hour. It's hands-down the best story hour I've ever read.

I'm still hoping that Spectaculars was cancelled becasue they'll be publishing d20 X-men (er, and those other Marvel guys, I guess...).

I think it converted from Alternity to D20 Modern over it's run. But I don't know for sure.

IIRC, JonRog actually said that it was a bastard mix of d20Modern and VP/WP and rules from alot of other sources. His own little monster, as it were.

Which sounds about like all of my Dark*Matter campaigns.

I hope that with confirmation from Owen Stevens over the Spectaculars thing we'll find this to be true. Not that I want Spectaculars to die, but I'd rather have this. :)

Why? You want Owen KC Stephens to work on Dark*Matter?

I thought fans preferred Wolfgang Bauer to do d20 Dark*Matter.

If anything, the Spectaculars material have already been written and paid for, and by this time should undergo art and layout design before they send the template to the local printer next month. WotC could suspend the project anytime before June.

Nah. I was saying that on the other thread about the cancelation of Spectaculars he'd mentioned that the cancelation was true, but was under NDA to not speak about it, but said it shouldn't be heralded as a sign of the end of all things D20Modern.

I.E. we've had two "rumors" about d20M here lately. One of them bore out, and I hope the other will, as well. The bad one is true, let's hope the good one is as well.

The only problem with this book is that, if the authors are Monte Cook and Wolfgang Bauer, then it's likely a rehash of the original, just with d20 stats. Seeing as the book is very stats lite, I would have very little use for it. The D*M book was all about the fluff.

Both have confirmed they're not working on the book. Amazon got it wrong.

Whatever it contains ... rewrites or just restats ... it'll probably contain at least a good part of the material from the original book ... and thus probably require consideration to the original authors and inclusion in the credits.
