d20 Modern House Rules

You do know, however, that the modern definition of the meter, now, references a fraction of the distance light travels in one second, and not a fraction of Earth's circumference.

So this don't matter.

Yes, because that number conveniently matched the existing number... it's still arbitrary.

Hi, board!

Change the Ignore Hardness Talent path to be 2, 4, 6 not 1, 2, 3 oh hold on that's an eratta not a house rule.

You do realize the errata change is to 2/3/4, not 2/4/6. Kind of lessens the ability to punch through solid stone...

Oh yeah, House Rules...

I plan to use a Moderate Non-Lethal Damage rule- take non-lethal damage equal to half your Con and you have to make a Fort save DC 15 or you're staggered for a round (partial action only, -2 to most actions).

This way someone can actually get the upper hand in a fist fight without a whole lot of feats or a lucky crit.

Whereas inches and feet aren't ? Is there any measurement system that is not arbitrary ?

All measures are arbitrary, but some measures are more practical than others.

Yes, well, no one in America know the metric system off the top of their head. We were well on our way until Ronald "Kill the Bastards" Reagan got elected into office and didn't want this crazy foreigner talk in his country, no sir!

Ah, and the errata is to 2/4/6. Mister Ryan said so, so nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh!

Oh, I never said that imperial measure isn't just as, or even more arbitrary. Just that metric is not as scientifically perfect as some would like us to believe.

And when it comes to practicality, what're you're used to and familiar with is always the most practical.

Ack! Just reread the thread, and he gave two different answers within two days- oh well, last answer wins I guess

BTW, I'm going to use the metric system with a house rule that defines the meter as the length of a line made up of all the M&Ms from a king size bag laid side by side.

Hmm this must be a new concept in gaming. Release the game then design it after its in the field. I suppose you get the largest number of playtesters that way.

Player, Day One: Man, this ability is weak.

Designer, Day One: Oh, that's been errata'd. Just double all the numbers.

Designer, Day Two: When I said double all the numbers, what I meant was that you add one to each of the numbers. My bad. Math was off, sorry.

Designer, Day Three: Actually, the official errata will say to double them and then subtract one. That's what it should have read the whole time.

Designer, Day Four: Actually, that lost post by me was an errata. It should have read, "double them, um to the character's Strong level maximum."

Designer, Day Five: The errata should read, and everyone should play it this way: There is no error on that page. The rules are as written.

Designer, Day Six: There's an errata for that last post. It reads, "Help, there are six of us trapped in this designer's head, and we have to draw straws for control!"
