D20 Modern is out!

I honestly don't know. However, I'm not rewarding tht sort of behavior. If I walk into a store that's empty of other customers, I want to be greeted. Maybe I'm spoiled... or maybe I'm just looking for something a little better than sub-McDonald's level of customer service.

Weird. You and I want exactly the opposite when we walk into a store. I cannot stand it when the employees greet me. I hate it when they hover and ask if you need any help. I prefer it if I'm left alone to make my own purchases. I get irritated if I'm bothered while making a decision.

If I want help, I'll ask for it, thank you very much... :)

Same goes for waitresses. If I need anything, I'll flag you down. Don't keep coming over to refill my water glass. It's annoying.

Damn. I'm moving to Germany.

Well, first we need to check if you are suitable for living here...

If you have the choice between two fairly similar products, and one is cheaper, but the other one has better customer support, will you

(a) take the one with better customer support, or
(b) take the cheap one?

If you bought a cheap product, and it breaks after the return date has passed, will you

(a) shrug and say "I guess I got what I paid for", or
(b) complain the store and sue them?

When you hear another scandal involving money and politicians, will you

(a) become more cynical, or
(b) express outrage while you are looking for new ways to evade taxes?

When you hear about new trends, business concepts, and ideas coming out of the USA, will you

(a) use the good ideas while discarding the rest, or
(b) use the bad ideas while discarding the rest?

If you live in an aparment block, and meet one of your neighbors on the stairs, will you

(a) have a short, friendly chat with him, or
(b) grunt, nod, and avert your eyes?

If you neighbor's pea bush grows into your wire fence and causes it to rust, will you

(a) say that it doesn't matter, or
(b) sue him?

If you answered (b) to all of these questions, you might just have what it takes to live in Germany...

Just to remind you all that I've just finished drawing counters for Fiery Dragon's Counter Collection 3: MODERN, which should be arriving at stores in a couple of weeks. Among the counters I did are:

Vehicles (including a Porshe, a Harley-Davidson, an SUV...)

A virtual Who's Who of the Monster Chapter (including half-human half-animal hybrids, the Tooth Fairy, TWO kobolds, a modern Gnoll with a MD16A rifle, a Bugbear bounder, a goblin cutpurse, an ogre swinging a traffic sign, a werewolf, a couple of vampires)

Over 40 different characters, including daredevils, infiltrators, super-spies, cops, thugs, mobsters, reporters, gunslingers (John Woo, anyone?) and more!

You've just made at least one sale Claudio :) Sounds like a great selection.

I've recently returned from a visit to the States, and one of the things that seemed really strange to my wife and I was each time we walked into a shop and an assistant (or someone at the counter) would call across "Hi, how are you?" or some other welcoming message. This would NEVER happen in the UK, and it took us by surprise again and again!

Hmm, I always get a friendly "Hello there" from the staff at my FLGS, although maybe this has something to do with them being Canadian rather than English...

Sounds more like a bavarian thing rather than a generic german thing. :p

In My Experience, German Customer Service does not exist.

Not a smile, no advice freely given. In fact, some were down-right rude.

It seems that the desire/need to be strict and proper far outweighs any consideration that should be given to a stranger. That said, they do leap out and surprise you, now and again. Which makes it all the more of a shock when it occurs. I think many would rather be run over by a ten tonne truck before they smile.

And D20 Modern? Good lord dude, MMII has yet to arrive here... I think the Swedish distributór has gone into hibernation.

Not at all. I think the pea bush incident was in Saxony. Don't you remember the song? It topped the charts for a time, after all... :D
