- 1 prototype, the hand from a dead body she has preserved and used an experimental technique on to give basic movement and stimulus response. It has a small power pack attached where it once joined a wrist, and has a kind of metal exoskeleton on it to help it move. It responds to basic stimulus (i.e. it knows when it hits a wall or pokes it. It will grip things if it can wrap a finger around them, and moves by "walking" on four fingers, while the middle finger projects outward as a kind of sensor.
- Assorted fringe devices for use in her work, all hand held.

Appearance: Dr. Mailinari is a tall, rather striking woman. She is just over 6 feet tall, and very slim. She is pale skinned for an Italian woman (which is still darker than many), no doubt from spending many days in the lab working instead of being exposed to the sun. Her hair is long and straight, usually pulled out of the way in a casual ponytail. She wears wire rimmed glasses inside, and perscription sunglasses when she goes out during the day. Her clothes tend to be rather messy, as though she hasn't ironed in weeks, unless she is going to a job interview or to present research. On those occasions, she makes sure her clothes are imaculate and she looks every bit the professional scientist. When she isn't presenting, she usually just wears jeans and generic button up blouses, being wholy unconcerned with fashion. She almost always wears a long coat lined with pockets, in which she carries several of her current sub-projects and tools. In the summer, she wears a vest that accomplishes the same purpose. She tends to speak very quickly, and often sprinkles even the simplist conversations with references to obscure scientific theories.
Personailty: Dr. Malinari shifts between an almost bored kind of casualness and hyper-animation. When she is working, or discussing her work, she is quite animate, eagerly discussiong subject after subject at a nearly blinding pace. When she is not, she's friendly enough, but often seems to not be paying attention to what is being said.
Background: Dr Malinari grew up in a family obssesed with death. Morticians by trade, the Malinari's expected Luccia to continue the family business when she grew up, as was tradition. Maybe this familial obsession with death is what prompted Luccia's rebellion, her desire to find a way to cheat death. She worked hard in school, initially intending to be a medical doctor in order to save lives. But her interests quickly took a turn towards the bizzare, as her research led her to texts discussion methods for restoring necrotic tissue, stimulating terminal brain functions, and human bio-electrics. She left medical school and entered into an engineering program, working rapidly to increase her knowledge of electronics and mechincal principles, all the while working on ways to incorporate these pieces into a method to restore life to the (at least recently) deceased. When she graduated, she took a teaching position at a medical school, using her faculty access to enter the morgue late at night and conduct research. While she was never officially caught, rumor soon spread about her night time activities, and she was quietly dissmissed from her position, but with a letter of recommendation for her work (After all, they had no evidence of her work). That letter got her another teaching job, but this one ended quickly as well. This pattern continued for quite some time, until she recieved a letter from D'Aubainne University offering her a position. She knew very little about the island, but her current position was coming to an end in a matter of days, so she jumped at the opportunity.
