[d20 Modern] Terminator: Future Fate is Here!

Yeah, I have to look into the ECLs again. Of course, that's part of the reason I did this, to help smooth out my own inexperience with d20 Modern and d20 Fantasy without risking any money.

Looking at the Robot entry in the d20 Modern SRD, it has "external components" rather than type descriptors. I followed suit with the Terminators.

I'll clarify on the Terminator/HK -- Terminators are not HKs and those rules do not apply, but I forgot to put in generic rules for HKs.

Yes, for dramatic effect, the alternate power source should kick in 1d6 rounds after the Terminator reaches -10 hit points. Then it gets back up.

The energy form is a bit of a misnomer -- it was an attempt to cover the nigh-indestructible nature of the T-1000000, T-100000 and T-1000. I'll rewrite it to work like golems. In essence, there's very little that actually harms them -- cold may slow them, fire scatters them, and that's about it. The rules on the T-100000 are speculation, because the movie isn't out yet (I'm taking some pretty big leaps from the description of the...cough...gag...Terminatrix/T-100000).

Talien, nice work with the revision! Having seen many game products from various companies be delayed in release and having virtually no timeline on when errata/revisions will be released, its great to see that you're willing and able to do version 1.1 of your excellent Terminator game so fast. I've been looking over the revised version in regards to what you changed, and there are a few things I wanted to point out:

- In the ECL section for the T-800 Terminator, you say that a T-800 with full class levels would have an ECL of 15. Since it's normal class levels are Tough Hero 5/Infiltrator 5, and since you give it a base ECL of 6, it's ECL with full class levels should be ECL 16.
- I'm glad to see you mentioned that HK's get the same benefits as Terminator's in the "Monsters" section. However, that might cause some confusion to people. For example, all HK's are now listed as having the Endoskeleton trait.
- The I-950 benefits from the listed "monster" traits despite its being neither a Terminator, nor an HK.
- The I-950 flavor text entry has the code listings for italics still visible around the word "feeling".
- You list the T-100000's Energy Form as lasting for 20 rounds and useable 3/day. Does this mean each use is 20 rounds (effectively 60 rounds/day), or that it can remain in energy form a total of 20 rounds/day, but can activate and drop out of that form three times as long as it has rounds left?
- In the section referencing other products to use for other time periods, for prehistoric you list "Brontosaurus Rex" from Goodman Games. The actual name of the product is "Broncosaurus Rex."

Sorry if it seems like I'm nitpicking on your work. I'm just trying to help clear up otherwise-contentious points so the end result is a game as awesome as the Terminator himself.

Terminator 3 bits...

I noticed that some of the terminators cite Terminator 3 as the source. Have you considered putting a minor spoiler warning on the first page?

END COMMUNICATION

Terminator: Future Fate v1.2

More updates:

* Added the self-reference in the OGL.
* Updated the ECL typo example for the T-800.
* Clarified the HK/Terminator issue.
* Clairifed the I-950 confusion.
* Removed the <i> around feeling.
* Clarified the energy form for the T-100000
* Fixed the Broncosaurus Rex reference.
* Added a summary of NPCs (will flesh this out with statistics later).
* Added a list of Tech Com ranks so you can see how the NPCs fit into the overall structure of Tech Com.
* I'm not going to put a spoiler in this game. For one, the information on the Terminatrix is speculation taken from press releases available on multiple web sites. Second, it reveals nothing about the actual plot of the movie. Third, if you're playing a RPG set in the Terminator universe, you can expect nothing but spoilers. It's sort of like reading the Lord of the Rings and then complaining that the book gave the movie ending away. Rest assured, once the T3 movie comes out, I'll add whatever new info from the movie to the game.

You can get the latest version of Terminator: Future Fate at http://www.retromud.org/talien under Freebies.

I found a script for the Terminator 3D movie -- very entertaining. It doesn't add a whole lot to the universe except to show Cyberdyne in the 1990s, which is amusing and rather like OCP (from Robocop).

Just got the Terminator: Infiltrator book for Christmas, so I'll be reading that and tweaking as appropriate. And I picked up the novelization of Krull so there'll be an update for Krull some time soon.

Geeze, lots to read.

I was wondering if you were going to be including anything from the NOW comic series, such as the moon base, terminator dogs, the neural suit, and that sub and its base (sorry, don't have the comics handy so I can't recall what they were called)?

The dog-type Terminators (called Terminator Scouts iirc) are included in Future Fate since they were also featured in the Robocop vs. Terminator mini-series. None of the other things are though, (although that mini-series gave Skynet's offworld ambitions a mention, but nothing major). I would like to see some of this stuff included in Future Fate though, it sounds interesting.

NOW Comics

Good question,

I just started collecting the NOW Comics from #2 on (couldn't get my hands on #1). I have to say, the comics are unbelievably awful awful AWFUL. But I'm a compleatist, so I couldn't help myself.

The moonbase isn't much to put in, but the other details are a possibility. When I read more I'll add it.
