Daggerheart Class Packs kickstarter is live.

Interesting clarification on contents and their thought process from Darrington Press in the Comments.

Absolutely! If you're already an owner of the Core Set, you have access to all these cards. However, this is for folks who would like an additional subset of the cards (like another set of Bard cards so they have more copies of the cards from the Core Set), GMs who want to keep their set of cards from the Core Set pristene, or for folks who are new and want to dip into Daggerheart at a lower entrypoint!

Each pack contains:

• 76 cards with everything an individual player needs to play their chosen class from level 1 all the way to level 10: 18 ancestry cards, 9 community cards, 6 subclass cards, and all the domain cards from two of the powerful domains that the pack’s class calls upon for their unique abilities (42).

• One additional card is included that will direct you to a PDF excerpt from the Core Rulebook with all the information you need to make a character of that class

As a Kickstarter perk, backers who pledge for at least one Class Pack will ALSO get the FULL Core Rulebook PDF.

Im sure this will make money from critters alone but... Im not to sure about their target market. Ill be honest... I dont get the value proposition for anyone outside of collectors maybe.

The all in tier is more than the cost of the original collectors set or 3 regular sets, and the PDF doesn't add any value if you already have one. Also... will core sets be back in stock between now and 4/26? If so it makes sense to just grab one of those.

I also dont get how I am supposed to know what class I will be playing in April of 2026 if Im just getting one deck...

How long did it take to fund? It’s only at 130%. Less than 900 backers.

That’s kinda surprising for a CR Kickstarter. I wonder what’s keeping the interest that low? Everyone who wanted the game already bought the core set? People less interested because campaign 4 isn’t Daggerheart? Too expensive for what it is?

That’s really surprising to me.

6 hours give or take a minute or two

Just out of curiousity, what were your expectations? The fact that it met its goals in less than 6 hours seems pretty impressive to me, but I'm also not super familiar with the kickstarter landscape. (The only kickstarter that I ever followed closely was the Megatokyo visual novel kickstarter—which I am glad I didn't back.)

EDIT: It seems insane to me that with current numbers ($134774 from 925 backers), the average amount pledged comes out to $145.70 per person. Some really passionate folks out there.

Aside from the collecting aspect, it seems like a niche product.
  • You need to be already invested in the core game
  • You need to be playing the game in person
  • You need more than the supplied core cards for whatever reason (more than one group, similar abilities in a group, etc)
No one is going to back this to "see what it's like" or "just to read". I've done that with more than a few KSs.

It's an interesting choice for a project, I guess we'll see how it turns out.

I don't think you need to be playing the game in person. I have online players who wish they had cards because they're much easier to reference for abilities, so they still have value to a lot of online players, particularly if they aren't using Demiplane.
