Daggerheart General Thread [+]

I picked up one local, (the standard set) and got another for a friend off of Amazon. I think this is an exceptional deal for an RPG product in 2025. I know we're discussing what a "fair price" for products is, but at this price point I can't imagine there's a lot of profit going their way.

There's no link to the collector's edition in the Canadian store, so I thought it wouldn't be reissued. But I copied the end of the US store link and it opened up to the collector's link in the cdn store, which is in stock. Sold!
Looks like it’s confirmed for the EU and AU stores too!

I’m noodling some classes. I want to bring my favorite 4E class to Daggerheart and brainstorm another fan favorite. My favorite: the swordmage. The fan favorite: the warlord.

I’ll be using the homebrew kit throughout. Linked in the OP. And this is very much a public work-in-progress, not a finished thing I’m posting.

First up: the swordmage. In 4E this was a teleport-happy tank that specialized in tanking by kiting. For those who don’t know, kiting is a video game term for getting something to follow you…while you keep moving away. Well, I think one subclass did that. The other would reposition enemies via offensive teleport. Not sure how those would work in Daggerheart. But let’s find out.

Okay. So domains. While I can see arguments for a few different domains, I think Valor and Codex are the best fits. Valor is for tanks. Codex is for book-learning magic types. Those are very much the swordmage’s shtick. Blade and Arcana are both also strong contenders.

Evasion vs HP. The wizard has 5 HP and the guardian has 7 HP. The average is 6. I could see an argument for 10 Ev and 6 HP or 9 Ev and 7 HP. I’ll leave that hair splitting for later.

And that’s it for now. More a tease than anything else.

Anyone familiar with the 4E swordmage have ideas on the hope and class features?

Hm, maybe a Mark type of thing as the class feature a la the Ranger? Spend a hope and make an attack, on success "when they deal damage to anybody but you, they must mark a stress; something else." One subclass around moving to marked targets, one around shielding allies or something?
