Daggerheart: Hope and Fear new book from Darrington Press

Stoked for this. The base version is an auto-buy, nearly doubling the number of Adversaries and Environments alone makes this worthwhile. We'll see where my campaign is at by then, though. But also the new player material ... I already consider that Void content in a pretty playable state, so having it "official" will be great.

Not sure if I'll upgrade. I want the DM screen, but the dice and ornate box are not super big draws for me.

But I thought Daggerheart was dead and that Darrington had no faith in the game since Critical Role isn't using it for the new season! At least that's what all the YouTubers told me. Was I misled about that?

Ill admit as someone who is on that train I’ll admit im wrong things seem to progressing pretty ok. Books seems like it will address alot of issues and the oneshots the sponsored seem to have been received rather well (I am unaware if any have blossomed to a full campaign but thats just a bonus).

Hope they also can keep the buzz going in between now and the release. Maybe more sponsored oneshots? Or maybe Age of Umbra Season 2 gets premiered during then.

Daggerheart is a very well made, fun TTRPG.

I do not understand why folks "need" it to be prominently streamed for them to think it is viable.

For me its largely out of fear of it being forgotten like thousands of other RPG’s and we all go back to playing D&D next year.

Thats hyperbole and also doesn’t really take into account the actual realities of the industry or that a game lives on as long as SOMEONE is playing, but its a feeling I’ve had for a while. What with a current entertainment client that feels like if your not in the spotlight you dont exist (again not true, but its an encroaching vibe)

Also ... given what CR campaign 4 is shaping up to be ... Daggerheart wasn't a mature or big enough system to support 13 different PCs. The "we have no faith in our own system" narrative was a bunch of bunk and drama baiting.

I'm guessing one of the campaign frames will be the Romantasy frame they were teasing earlier this year, and probably Keith Baker's Frame as well? I'm actually more intrigued in these than I thought, as I will probably be getting close to wrapping up my Daggerheart campaign around then.

Apparently the next most popular is Pathfinder followed by VtM and CoC and think you would be hard pressed to find a currently streaming game with actual production value (or any at all).

There was LA by Night and its sequel but thats it?

I am partially in that camp. I don't think it's so drastic as showing they have no faith in their system, but I think it was a missed opportunity to keep their game in the spotlight.

I'm super excited for this book and I hope we see many more Daggerheart things.

As I have not otherwise, I suspect that the Witch will still use the Dread domain, which I'm surprised got past any sensitivity reader, given how negatively-coded the Dread domain is.
