Adding a save against crappy str mod damage? now that is a truly crappy mechanic. If you want that put it on a berserker move.. all creatures adjacent to the furious warrior make a save or take damage. (how much ? dont know ? crunch some numbers)

For one thing it derails the concept for those who want that sense of reliability.

Or one that knows they are truly competent.. enemies will need to put special skill or desperate effort if they want to come away unscathed.

The problem as it stands right now is that no amount of skill or effort can let an opponent come away unscathed...

Desparate effort = spending hit points. And for me a special skill would be something which allowed damage resistance by taking a move could be a feat or whatever.

Something not everyone can do..

Pretty false.

Heavy Armor Master
Defy Death
Iron Root Defense

Three class based or feat based skill or efforts that allow you to reduce the damage that GWF can do.

Can anyone reduce the damage? No. But training or effort does exist.

I'll give you Heavy Armor and Iron Root Defense... but Defy Death doesn't really reduce the damage of the GWF damage on a miss.

EDIT: and both of these have some pretty restrictive pre-requisites... and none seem to center around dodging, but instead around resisting the blow

Ok, having two threads on the same topic, with the same people is getting confusing as all heck. Am I the only one?
